Bott Frigyes
Pinot Noir - 2019
Granum - Furmint, Hárslevelü, Juhfark - 2018
We are super impressed with how luxurious, complex and balanced these wines are. Two styles that shout Burgundian class.
The Granum is like a Burgundian chardonnay and australian Riesling had a love child: Oaky petrol, oily vibrant acid & smooth as f**k. White fruits, .
The Pinot Noir: round, fruity, deep and bursting with light spices and solid structure.
After WWI, Hungary lost around 71% of its territory to Romania, Ukraine, Czechoslovakia (Slovakia), Yugoslavia (Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia) and Austria. Over 3 million ethnic Hungarians found themselves outside of Hungary with significant outcome on the grapes and traditions that never stopped or are now coming back to life beyond the present day borders of Hungary.
On the southern slopes of the Mužsla Hills in Slovakia surrounded by the river Garam, Danube and the Ipoly rivers, is one such example: Bott Frigyes.
Bott Frigyes cultivates 10 hectares next to the River Garam, at a height of 250 metres above sea level.
The vineyards are located on the southern slopes of the Muzsla Hills, in the heart of the historic wine region in the geographical triangle defined by the River Garam and the Danube.
The soil is made up of a clay layer on top of a volcanic bedrock, rich in limestone and minerals. Bott Frigyes believes in the outstanding qualities and uniqueness of the region that lies next to the Garam.
Frigyes favours the traditional varieties bestowed by the wine region: Furmint, Hárslevelu, Juhfark, Kékfrankos and Kadarka
