def: When you move Sunday to Monday because you’re an indie shop and you gotta celebrate the small wins.

2010 Hacienda Monasterio, one of the greats. At 15% abv this is fresh, deft and absolutely delightful - there is a question mark over the future of this style (high abv wines) I think it will be a huge loss to 2040 if we can’t enjoy a glass of something with this pedigree on a fabulous random Sunday-Monday in late January 2040.

‘New Wines Coming To HarperWells’ In-Store Wine Tasting'!

I recently attended a portfolio tasting in Cambridge earlier this month and was totally 'blown away' by the many wines that I tasted on the day.
So, while scratching my head as to what I wanted to theme this month's Thursday in-store wine session, it dawned on me to show you all a few 'newbies' that HarperWells will be stocking soon.

Just released: Tickets for our next tasting Friday 24th May.
David Morgans from Champagne Laurent-Perrier will host a tasting of six exceptional wines from this renowned house - Including the 100/100 Grand Siecle #26.

The event is being held at Holton Lodge Barn near Halesworth, over the Spring Bank Holiday. Holton Lodge Barn is a beautifully restored threshing barn in the heart of the Suffolk countryside.

Over the weekend you can enjoy a glass of wine on the patio over looking the gardens with a pintxos or two prepared by Fredricks Fine Foods

The new season of events at Holton Lodge Barn is upon us!

First up, Harper Wells are coming back with their ever popular Pop-up Wine Shop & Wine Bar, which will be open on Spring Bank Holiday weekend on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 May from 10.30am until 6pm.

We’re keeping everything crossed for a repeat of the glorious weather we had last year so you can relax and enjoy a glass of delicious wine outside on the patio. Bring some friends, your hat and some sunscreen!

Sam is organising a fabulous wine tasting with a special guest speaker for Friday evening at 6.30pm. Booking is essential as numbers are limited. Early Bird tickets are available right now, so book early to avoid disappointment using the link in bio.

On Saturday evening there will be an informal wine tasting with pintxos from Fredrick’s Fine Foods in Diss. More details and tickets will be available soon on the Harper Wells website.

When Ferran Adrià of El Bulli fame declared drinking gin a ‘gastronomic act’ and shared his recipe for the perfect G&T. His gin of choice? Citadelle, no less

2009, 50% Chardonnay 50% Sauvignon, from Friuli. In a word, epic and still 10yrs of enjoyment left in these bottles. Feels like an ‘orange wine’ but before it was fashionable. I probably paid less than £20 a bottle and would happily pay twice as much today and still feel like I got a bargain. Any guesses to the producer?
