🍷EXCITING NEWS IN BATTERSEA🍷EXCLUSIVELY AT OUR ST JOHN'S HILL STORE

In August we will be trialling a “buy by the glass” system each Wednesday of the month, starting on the 3rd. Pop by, sit down (with air-conditioning!), relax and take the opportunity to drink some really cool wines without having to buy the whole bottle. We love helping people explore different wine regions and find new wines to enjoy, so we think that being able to purchase by the glass will give you a great opportunity to do just that.

We’ll have a selection of reds, whites and roses throughout the month from countries across the globe, so we’ll have something for all tastes. Our opening hours are 11am-8pm on Wednesdays, we very much look forward to seeing you!

Last night we had dinner with Stefano Moccagattta, owner of Villa Sparina. Featuring magnums of their gavi di gavi as well as the Monterotondo, which is their premium gavi, we had the 2020,2017,2012,2009 and 2008, showing how gavi can age!

Spotlight today on this titan of the Loire, Domaine Didier Dagueneau’s Silex 2018. Didier sadly died in 2008 but his revolutionary methods live on in this spectacular expression of Sauvignon Blanc, arguably among the finest in the world. Meticulous biodynamic viticulture keeps the yields low and a complex process of oak ageing in barrels of various sizes and ages brings immense depth and complexity. Its steely energy makes it an ideal candidate for bottle age but the generous spiced apples, sourdough and almonds on the palate tell you it’s ready to go now. Only 8000 bottles made and not many left outside of private collections. Available online or in store now!

Join us at Nysa St John’s Hill on May 12th for an evening tasting through the range of Argentina’s most influential producer, Bodega Catena Zapata. 6 stunning wines: from impossibly elegant, high-altitude Chardonnay to some of the finest single vineyard Malbec South America has to offer. Spring has sprung and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than with this traditional method sparkling rosé from Raventós I Blanc. Pepe Raventós withdrew from the Cava appellation in 2012 to concentrate on the distinctive Conca del Riu Anoia region in Alt Penedes. Here they practice biodynamic principles and traditional Catalan farming practices. The rosé is a blend of the three traditional varieties with a splash of monastrell thrown in to produce the delicate, cherry blossom pink colour, and is aged on lees for 18 months. The result is an elegantly textured glass of citrus, white fruit and fresh fennel. Enough to coax anyone out of hibernation! Available in store and online

Spotlight today on this little beauty from the far North of Piemonte. 50% Nebbiolo (or Spanna as it’s known by the locals) and the rest made up of local varieties (Croatina, Uva Rara and Vespolina). It’s showing bright red cherry, violet and spice with some alluring, tertiary, umami character coming through at its grand old age of 8 years, all bound together by characteristic Nebbiolo tannin. A true curiosity and an absolute steal for aged Nebbiolo at under £25. Come and give it a try at Nysa Fulham Road, there’s a bottle open!

On 20th April we are joined by Filippo Antonelli at Enoteca Turi just around the corner from Sloane Square to taste through his stunning range of Montefalco wines. The ticket price includes three courses of delicious, authentic, Umbrian food and 8 of Filippo’s wines. This is a must for any lovers of Italian wine and, in particular, for those wishing to learn a little about the mysterious and exotic sagrantino, the jewel in Montefalco’s crown. Already eyeing up your Sunday roast this weekend?
Made from 100 year old vines in sunny California, the grapes are cultivated using completely ecological agriculture and undergo very little intervention from the winemakers during vinification.
Aromas of redcurrant, turned earth and gravel hit you first, translating to a palate of fresh raspberries, rose petals and herbs. A seriously juicy offering, which we think will be an absolute winner with any kind of roasted meats. If you are thinking about what to drink on Sunday - look no further!
