🍷 Tolpuddle Release! 🍷

Tasmania is a remarkable place to grow grapes, so in early 2011 Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith set off for a look and ended up buying a vineyard. The Tolpuddle Vineyard in the Coal River Valley was planted in 1988. The climate is cool and dry - ideal conditions to grow Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of exceptional quality.

We believe Tolpuddle is one of the great Tasmanian single vineyard producers with their wines doing all the talking. Previously they have won the inaugural Tasmanian Vineyard of the Year award, reflecting the performance of this unique and distinguished site.

The 2023 vintage experienced one of the coolest seasons on record, leading to a high percentage of smaller berries, giving lower yields and excellent concentration of flavour.

🍷 2023 Giant Steps Release! 🍷

Giant Steps was founded in 1997 by wine industry pioneer Phil Sexton who arrived in the Yarra Valley to find the ideal site to produce Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Turns out, there was more than one. Today, Giant Steps is led by Head of Winemaking and Viticulture, Melanie Chester, who works with six big personality vineyard sites in the Valley (and one in Tasmania) to produce wines that showcase the region’s unique expression.

Now entering into their fifth decade of production, Grosset has truely become one of the greatest producers of Clare Valley wines. Grosset are most well known for their award-winning Rieslings but also produce small amounts of outstanding Fiano, Chardonnay and Cabernets.

It takes time, devotion and attention to detail to produce beautiful wine, especially when you’re a small family-run operation. Their founder Jeffrey Grosset is dedicated to creating pure expressions of variety and place.

Four estate-owned certified organic and biodynamic (ACO) vineyards are located in high altitude country of the Clare Valley, each site selected for its potential to produce great wine and planted by Grosset. Each is handpicked and hand pruned; each bunch of grapes harvested at optimum ripeness.

A little bit about Felton Road... Beginning with meticulous site selection and vineyard design started in 1991, Felton Road’s story is one of refusal to compromise. A strict 100% estate policy with fully organic and biodynamic viticulture (Demeter certified) ensures that their fruit arrives at the winery as pure as it can be, while their entire estate comes as close to true sustainability as is possible. 🍷 Home Hill Pinot Noirs! 🍷

Home Hill have some of the most sought-after wines coming out of Tassie, winning an array of awards and recieving near perfect scores. The Home Hill vineyard was planted in 1992 with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sylvaner grapes. The grey loam, high-clay soil and reliable rainfall provide excellent growing conditions for these cool climate varieties.

2023 saw a cooler growing season but without the intense rainfall that mainland Australia received. The overall quality is high resulting in wines with great intensity, purity of fruit and supple tannins.

🍷 Bream Creek Wine Release! 🍷

Bream Creek Vineyard is one of the pioneers of the modern Tasmanian wine industry. Their 7.5ha vineyard at Marion Bay in the south-east of Tasmania was originally planted in 1974, making it one of the oldest commercial vineyards on the island.

Fred Peacock purchased the vineyard in 1990 and expanded the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay plantings, as well as introducing Sauvignon Blanc. Fred also planted what was arguably the first commercial planting of the rare German grape variety Schönburger in the southern hemisphere.

Since 1990 their premium cool climate wines have been rewarded with 61 trophies and more than 1,150 show medals.

🍷 2023 Kumeu River Chardonnay Release! 🍷

The Brajkovich family and Kumeu River Wines is a story that parallels the New Zealand wine industry. From the pioneering days to the establishment of the New Zealand wine industry to today, the Brajkovich family have been internationally recognised as producing world class wine. The Brajkovichs are focused on and internationally recognised as producing world class Chardonnay.

The Chardonnay wines of Kumeu River have gained a strong foothold within the international market, receiving outstanding accolades. The vineyard has gone on to become the globally recognised benchmark for non-Burgundy produced Chardonnay.

In 2023 everything was harvested by hand, allowing for meticulous triage so that only high quality fruit made it to the presses. They decided to use no new oak for fermentation, but having such a small vintage meant that the proportion of 1 and 2 year-old barrels was much higher than usual, and the oak feel to these wines is very similar to a normal vintage.

The most encouraging thing about 2023 is that all of the individual vineyard terroir characters are shining through strongly, still giving that strong sense of place and vineyard character.

🍷 2023 Agricola Release! 🍷

The Powell family have been making award winning wines in the Barossa for decades. Now son Callum has released his on Barossa label. These wines are totally different to your usual big, bold reds of the Barrosa – lower alcohol, lo-fi, pure and elegant.

This release sees 4 wines in the range – Ebenezer, Flaxman Valley, K’ Sands and DWxHV. The 2023 vintage was a significantly cool, prolonged harvest. Many of their sites were picked two weeks later than usual. This long and cool season resulted in considerable structural backbones of these wines, while still maintaining vibrant perfumes and flavour profiles.

An enthusiastic and energetic Nick started his is own wine label the first year out of university. The Farr Rising brand started in a small winery known locally in the Moorabool Valley of Geelong called Innisfail in 2001. The sink or swim guidance that his father Gary provided in Nick’s first years was not lost on him and has shaped the vigneron he is today.

The label first sourced fruit from the Innisfail vineyards while planting new sites on the family farm where the fruit is now sourced for the wines we see today. The Farr Rising wines are built for deliciousness and a higher than expected consistency from every vintage.

🍷 Lake's Folly Release! 🍷

Established in 1963 by Doctor Max Lake, Lake’s Folly was the first new vineyard in the Hunter Valley last century. In early 2000, Lake’s Folly was purchased by Peter and Lee Fogarty and family who, along with Hunter-born and bred winemaker, Rodney Kempe, have continued to maintain the integrity and direction of this significant vineyard.

Their two flagship wines, (usually) a Cabernet blend and a Chardonnay, are made in limited quantities and are grown, vintaged and made on the Estate. The wine styles are restrained and elegant, showing finesse and complexity. They have clarity of structure and great length of flavour.

This year’s red is a blend of Shiraz, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Due to very late harvest rainfall which impacted the Cabernet grapes, they decided not to harvest the Cabernet (the first time on record this has happened at Lake’s Folly). The final result is a unique, unprecedented blend.

🍷 2024 Helm Riesling Release! 🍷

Helm Wines, in Murrumbateman NSW, was established by Ken and Judith Helm in 1973. Ken is a descendant of German vignerons who planted vines in the Albury district in the 1850s. Helm Wines specialises in the production of award winning Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon, and has a number of vineyards and wineries dedicated to these two varieties

The philosophy at Helm Wines is that wine making is an art not a science. The winemaker is the custodian of the grape and has the potential to create a masterpiece. They strive to produce premium quality wines that reflect the true characteristics of the grape and the land in which they have been grown.

This release, fruit had to be sourced from Mudgee and Orange, due to hail and unforgiving weather conditions in Canberra. Unfortunately no Premium Riesling was made in 2024.

🍷 Giaconda Wine Release Update! 🍷

We've noticed everyone is getting a little excited about the Giaconda Trade release after the winery managed to sell out in 5 minutes again!

We will be doing a small online release of the Chardonnay, Nebbiolo, Shiraz, Rousanne and a few sneaky back vintage wines.

The wines will be live to purchase on Thursday 23rd of May (Tomorrow!) at 3:00pm.

We will have a limit of 3 bottles per customer for the elusive Chardonnay. If you are only after the Chardonnay we'd recommend having at least 3 bottles in your cart prior to the live release to take advantage of our 6+ bottle pricing.

We will also be releasing a mixed 6 pack of Giaconda wines which will include the Chardonnay as well.

In 1998 Jim moved to Tasmania an fell in love with Tasmanian Pinot Noir, and a girl called Daisy. In 2000 Jim and Daisy left Tasmania for the Hunter Valley, but began the Chatto label to continue the affair with Tasmanian Pinot Noir.

They then spent the next six years searching for the perfect vineyard site. Isle vineyard is located in the Huon Valley. Planting began in 2007 and their first vintage was 2012.

They finally returned to live full time at Isle Vineyard in January, 2017. This was the first year their wine was made on site. (Previously they had shipped the fruit up to the Hunter Valley where the winemaking occurred, most recently at Mount Pleasant.)

This year marks the release of the following Chatto Pinot Noirs – Bird, Seven Inch, Killara Farm, Franklinii and Lutruwita.

Planted in 1969, Moss Wood is an important, founding estate of the Margaret River wine region, located in the famous sub–region of Wilyabrup, Western Australia. Clare & Keith Mugford have been making wine & tending the vineyard at Moss Wood since 1984 & 1979, respectively. Their exacting viticulture ensures the production of grapes of excellent quality & they have created a stable of fine wines with a focus on their award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon.

Being one of Australia's most iconic Cabernets this wine showcases exceptional quality and consistency over each vintage and the ability to age superbly for an extended period of time.

An intense array of primary fruit notes, including blueberries, raspberries, red currant, mulberry, plum and musk, as well as a touch of nutmeg, cinnamon and clove spices. Cabernet Sauvignon’s classic floral note of violets adds volume. The complexities in the background include cedar, to***co and tar, the “cigar box” combination, plus some light toasty oak.

The theme of the red and dark fruits continues, with black currant, cherry, blueberry, mulberry and dark jube flavours filling the mouth. They sit over a medium to full body, with bright acidity and soft, well integrated, svelte, almost chocolate-like, tannin. The wine is long and finishes with cedar and toasty oak, with perhaps a touch of star anise.
