2021 saw The Oak Barrel celebrate 65 years of selling great booze. In 2022, we want to acknowledge the legs we stand on: the staff, the customers, the punters and the professionals who make us what we are today.
To do so, we're kicking off this little series.. 60 seconds with some of the legends that have played - and continue to play - an integral part in building and maintaining the awesome community that is The Oak Barrel.
Special shout-outs to Dave Withers of @archierosesyd for being our first willing (not to mention incredibly qualified) volunteer!
Keep an eye out for the next episode.. coming to you soon 🍸🍺🍷😀

Exclusive Whiskies From The Oak Barrel Archive Tasting
The Oak Barrel is excited to announce a whisky tasting wit a line-up we've never seen before - after digging through the archive during lockdown we've put together a selection of exclusive bottlings from the past six years.
Although it's not an exhaustive collection of everything we've bottled, these are a collection of our favourites from the period we'd like to open and share. It also gives us an opportunity to (finally) share in person our two 65th anniversary releases that we were forced to launch virtually in recent months.
Featuring single casks and releases from GlenDronach, Overeem, Archie Rose, Sullivans Cove, Paul John, Starward, Ardnamurchan and Black Gate, we are offering both in-store and virtual tickets, with the latter being sent drink-at-home packs to watch a broadcast of the event.
The event will also serve to introduce Josh Fischer to the audience, with Josh becoming the next Whisky & Spirits Educator for The Oak Barrel. He will co-host with incumbent Scott Fitzsimons, who will be moving on from the role following this tasting.

Sullivans Cove & The Art Of Whisky Blending [Whisky Forum]
It is with great joy and pride that following a seven-year hiatus we welcome Sullivans Cove back to the Sydney Whisky Fair/Forum fold with a special virtual tasting to mark the night Whisky Fair 2021 would have begun.
Although we've done an annual stand-alone night with Sullivans in recent years, the distillery - arguably Australia's best known - have not had the sufficient levels of mature stock to do it properly. Not for lack of want, The Oak Barrel and Sullivans Cove have been in dialogue for a number of years, working towards the right opportunity.
Finally, 2021 has provided that opportunity.
Providing the finale to Sydney Whisky Forum 2021, we're delighted to confirm that Distillery Manager and blender extraordinaire Heather Tillott will be joining us live from Tasmania to take a look at four different expressions of Sullivans Cove Double Cask. With blending such a hot topic of the Australian week of Sydney Whisky Forum, and indeed such a vital part of the current whisky scene, we're going to deep dive into the creation of these whiskies which, in The Oak Barrel's opinion, have been the star of the distillery's line-up in recent years.
Featuring DC batches 95, 109 and 110 we'll finish with something very new and very special, full details of which will be announced on the night.
These are all whiskies that Heather has crafted and blended and that hold special stories for her.
What We’ll Be Trying:
Sullivans Cove DC095 49.6%
Sullivans Cove DC109 45%
Sullivans Cove DC110 46.9%
Sullivans Cove DCOR01 45.2%

Featuring distillers from across Australia that would have been showcasing at the in-person Fair should it have gone ahead this year, each will be showcasing a whisky whilst having a chat with fellow distillers and the audience.
Featuring special editions, preview releases and expressions from new distilleries.
