Discover the legend of a closed distillery with a rare release - Glenury Royal 40 Year Old! A fruity and refreshing malt that holds a piece of whisky history. 🌟

The first distillation took place in 1968, and in 1970, the second batch emerged from the lost distillery which closed in 1985. The second version stands out with its slightly more oaky, musky, and incredibly powerful character, carrying an ABV of 59.4% compared to the first batch's 51.2%.

A highly mature dram that unfolds its splendour with every note, the nose soft at first deepens into rich, dark chocolate scented with cherries, then soft apples, tart red berries, and buttery fudge. On the palate a most enjoyable and attractive oily texture leads to cool, dry sandalwood, then to a sweet/bitter contrast, as with sugar crystals in coffee grounds and ending with a long finish with fresh cedary notes, a pronounced dry oakiness and delicious cocoa powder conclusion. The aftertaste is delicately savoury with a little chocolate after-dinner mint, smooth and silky, with light fragrant smoke.
