For our Palmy North followers, we'll be part of Liquorland Albert Street's tasting line-up this Thursday from 4pm-7pm. There'll also be craft beer and wine tasting stalls.
Nakano's gin range will be available for you to try, as well as some umeshu and sake.

This weekend's pairing: slow roasted tomatoes with junmai-shu sake.

They worked well in my opinion as the junmai-shu has strong umami, which can hold its own against the umami in the tomatoes.

On the to-do list: fried mushrooms and also avocado pairings (both are umami rich)

It's been a once in a decade cold snap in Japan. These are the company gardens at Nakano today.

Snow days are chaotic in Japan in areas like Wakayama where it seldom snows. It makes the roads treacherous and the trains stop moving. The commitment of all the staff here to still make it to work on a day like this is next level - walking through the snow or rising well before dawn for the slow drive in.
