General information
Stitches, formerly Stitch'n'Fix, on Metges Lane, Navan, Co. Meath has been providing a clothing alterations and repair service in Navan for almost ten years. Run by Sheelagh Kavanagh, Stitches changed its name upon moving around the corner, to its new location on Metges Lane, just next door to Diamond Cinema. Sheelagh has many years experience in the clothing alterations industry and her greatest strength is her ability to put her to hand to just about any alteration or repair task brought to her. Sheelagh has a particular flair for rejuvenation and repurposing clothing in collaboration with her customers. Repurposing has become increasingly popular in Ireland since the economic downturn with many people giving their existing wardrobe a freshen up by making minor alterations and small additions to create entirely new looks. Similarly since the recession hit, many people are more inclined to have clothes adjusted to suit changes in size, rather than purchasing a new wardrobe. When making that decision its great to know that the person making those alterations (either up or down in size) is accomplished and has a proven track record. There's nothing worse than seeing your favourite suit or dress suffering at the hands of an unqualified or poorly trained seamstress. Sheelagh's work is exemplary, and the proof is in the longevitiy of her trading in Navan. Many of Sheelagh's customers travel from throughout the county of Meath to come to her for advice and suggestions and ultimately for the completion of the alterations or repairs needed. With everything from skirt shortening and bodice resizing to waist increases or reductions on men's suits trousers and jackets, Sheelagh is happy to undertake even the most seemingly difficult of tasks. Specialist work in bridal and occasion wear alterations, beading repairs, dress redesign, curtain alterations etc., - no job is too difficult and if it is, you'll be pushed to find someone else able to take it on. Sheelagh prides herself on her honest and efficient work ethic which coupled with her meticulous attention to detail will make it difficult to find another clothing alterations and repair business in Co. Meath to equal that of Stitches. Customers are always welcome to bring their clothing items into the store for advice, recommendations and quotations. Sheelagh will always be upfront about the feasibility or practicality of completing certain jobs but is empathetic to the customers' wishes.
