SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to increasingly tough market conditions, we have taken the incredibly difficult decision to close the shop permanently after over 150 years of trading in the town.

We would like to thank all our customers over the years for their loyal support.

We will be continuing to open on Friday and Saturdays for the foreseeable future and will be having a closing down sale starting next Friday 26th January.

Temporary shop closure...
Sorry to say that the shop will be temporarily closed from the end of business today for a short period of time. This is due to staff absence which has been unavoidable. We hope to re-open by October 30th at the latest and will update you here if there is any change.

SPECIAL HALF PRICE OFFER FOR OCTOBER ONLY!

Speyside 21yo blended malt in a cut glass decanter with a display box.

A 75cl bottling from the 1980's at 43% abv.

Just £110 per bottle (usually £220)

It's not known which distilleries contributed to the blend, but anything of this age from Speyside is bound to be a combination of delicious honey, vanilla and spice flavours with little to no peat influence.

We know, we've tried it !

Released on Burn's Night (25th Jan) - Lochlea's first Peated Whisky!

The fourth small batch release from Lochlea's First Crop range, each of which coincides with the current phase of their barley farming at time of release. In winter, Lochlea farm is ploughed in preparation for sowing barley seed in spring.

Ploughing is Lochlea's very first smoky release, the unpeated spirit was matured in a combination of barrels and quarter casks which previously contained peated Islay malt whisky. These casks impart a warming, lightly peated character with notes of cooked apples, brazil nuts, boiled sweets and lingering peat smoke throughout the palate.

Single Grain Whisky is not Single Malt Whisky

A generally Lighter, Sweeter, Easy Drinking style of whisky;
Single Grain whiskies can be made with any malted or unmalted cereal (such as Maize, Wheat or Rye) usually with a small amount of malted barley.

North British Single Grain 1997 18 Year - £48.95

Most Single Grain Whisky goes into Blended Whiskies such as Dewar's or Johnnie Walker and the North British Distillery in Edinburgh is an example of this - they never bottle their own whisky!

At £48.95 for a rare 18 year old this is a great reason to venture into a lesser known realm of Whisky!
