Phillip came to me today,
and said it was time to go.
I looked at him and smiled,
as i whispered that "I know"

I then turned and looked behind me,
and seen I was asleep.
All my Family were around me,
and I could hear them weep.

I gently touched each shoulder,
with Phillip by my side.
Then I turned away and walked,
with My Angel guide.

Phillip held my hand,
as he lead the way,
to a world where King's and Queens,
are Monarch's every day.

I was given a crown to wear
or a Halo known by some.
The difference is up here,
they are worn by everyone.

I felt a sense of peace,
my reign had seen its end.
70 years I had served my Country,
as the peoples friend.

Thank you for the years,
for all your time and love.
Now I am one of two again,
in our Palace up above.

Battle of the Somme Parades

Tonight will see a number of parades across the district including Newtownards, Bangor, Donagahadee, Greyabbey and Ballywalter.

In Newtownards a number of minor parades will take place prior to the main parade at 7pm. Bangor will also see travel disruption between these times.

Most of Newtownards town centre will be affected from 6pm to 9:30pm including Regent Street, Frances Street, New Road, Court Street, High Street, South Street, John Street, William Street.

Please expect travel disruption between these times- seek an alternative route and follow police directions.

ALDERMAN JAMES MENAGH,
GWCDA Office bearers and committee members wish to offer our, Deepest, Sincere and Heartfelt sympathy to Nicola and the Menagh family on the passing of our dear friend jimmy , As a councillor he worked so hard for his community and beyond. As a personal friend he was straight talking and direct. "catch yourself on " or "wise up Big Man" was a typical reply if he didnt agree with an opinion or idea. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him or worked with him . He supported the work of the community groups within the 5 main estates in Ards and attended every event hosted in the Glen estate, his beloved West Winds and the other communities and wasnt shy to lift a sponge or brush to help with clean ups, car wash s or any other community events. He was proud to help with charity fund raisers and loaned his support to many within the borough. Today our community has lost a true Gent but his legacy will live on in our hearts and those whos lives he touched. Peace After Suffering. John A Gibson, Chairperson , GWCDA
