I have taken down the post about yesterday’s shop theft. The parents of the kids got in touch with me and we could resolve the matter. I can completely empathise with the parents of these teenagers as it can be a very challenging and difficult situation for them. Hopefully, the kids have learned a lesson. I have invited the teenagers to spend some time in the shop helping me and the staff, to understand the hard work we put in and the pride we take in running our business. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all the help and support in this matter. Great example of community spirit and positive social media engagement. Muchas gracias ❤️❤️

A while ago I published a post about giving work opportunities in my shop to young people in the local area (Benton and Longbenton).
I am very happy to announce that we are now ready to start in the summer holidays. We can offer a 2 week work experience (unpaid) to 16-18 year olds. Upon successful completion of the same, we will offer a 4 week summer job (paid).
So if you’re 16-18 years of age and want to explore an opportunity in retail, please let us know. Application forms with further details can be collected from the shop from April 15, 2022.

Please note - we are a small, independent shop and can offer a only limited number of summer placements. This is our own initiative to help make a difference in our local community and we do not get any financial help from any organisation. We will be grateful for your patience, understanding and respect.

This is a heartfelt message to the young people in Benton and Longbenton - I know it’s been a very tough year for you and you’ve felt discouraged, disappointed and maybe deflated. Maybe you’ve felt disheartened and depressed even, that it’s all a gloomy future. However bad and helpless you feel, PLEASE PLEASE do not shoplift from or rob your local shop (or any shop). We are all struggling and trying to survive. If you feel you haven’t got the money for that pack of tabs or that bottle of vodka and want to go down the path of stealing and robbing, PLEASE come and talk to me. I will give you a better, more respectable option and I will help you gain employment.

To the three young men who robbed my shop last month - I’m eagerly and non-judgementally waiting for you to come and talk to me. Would you like to turn your life around and work for me? The ball’s in your court. I hope and pray you seize this opportunity. Xx 🙏🏽 Priya

Gutted that we’re going to be in Tier 4, especially for all my friends and customers who are not allowed to keep their businesses open or are affected adversely. Fingers crossed, we’ll move back to a lower tier in 2 weeks’ time. I’m here if anyone needs me, unconditionally and non-judgementally (friends and customers alike). Remember, if you’re struggling, financially or emotionally or mentally, please please ask the staff to see me. I promise I will help, no matter what.
So, I’ve decided that I will still see this dreadful year out in my living room, with the music blasting (apologies to the neighbours and the teenager), in my best dress, cooking a feast and sipping a champagne. Best wishes everyone for 2021. Stay safe, stay blessed. ❤️❤️❤️

Hello lovely people in Benton and Longbenton. We all know it’s been an extremely tough year for all of us, especially for the elderly, the vulnerable and for children. So we thought we could all do with a little Christmas cheer this year. How about we all gather outside the shop (social distancing in place of course) at 6:00pm on Christmas Eve for a MASSIVE jingle and some mulled wine, cookies and pop/juice? I and my team would love to see you all 😘😘
