Thank you everyone for your comments to this post. We appreciate all you have said. I think the point of this post is that after our last big ‘SOS’ post (April 2023😳) we had a huge amount of customers flooding back in vowing to help and support the shop. Every winter is getting tougher now and we still need everyone to rally all year round if we all still want a shop. We open our doors 362 days a year and our opening hours are well documented, even when they change on bank holidays. We respect we cannot help everyone all of the time but do our best. We have never in 8 years shut our doors early even when no one is around. We’re not looking for a medal, we are just politely sending a reminder out, as we’ve been asked to do throughout this past year to all those who can add a bit of help.
In terms of moving forward we will go back to opening at 7am until 6pm from April 2nd to help those who work during the week and see how it goes in terms of turnover versus costs however we are open on weekends where Saturday mornings were always the best days but have sadly declined so much in recent times. We understand times have changed and things are tough for people out there but it really is a choice of use it or lose it. In terms of staff members not smiling it can be quite demoralising when the shop is so quiet and post office customers use free services without supporting the store. No excuse and we will remind everyone (including ourselves) to make sure we’re all happy to greet you with a warm welcome.
Thanks again everyone.
