“The thought process for me was purely from a visual standpoint. I loved how the two shapes fit together and wanted to play with the idea to create a bold, fun graphic. Also in the hope it would make people smile on the cold January work commutes. I understand people think there is some environmental statement which I think is only a good thing! Don’t let the January blues dampen your wine choices. Now is the perfect time to refresh your wine choices!

So if you like crisp, zesty whites then you should try Gouguenheim Torrontés from the Uco Valley in Mendoza. Fresh and vibrant, this will delight any fans of white wine. Filled with citrus notes from freshly squeezed lemon to juicy grapefruit, it’s a refreshing change to the overt green notes found in Sauvignon Blanc. Torrontés is an amazing partner for dishes like Chicken Satay or Thai Green Curry which can be notoriously difficult to pair wine with.

When it comes to red wine, the choice is certainly broad. But what if you just want something juicy and red-fruited? It’s always useful to have a bottle of red ready to reach for at the end of the week or something that is a great food match from your mid-week spag bol to a rustic Sunday lunch. This event brings producers to Wyle Cop for you to greet whilst sampling their wines. Our Buying and Events team are ready and waiting to take you on this wine journey, walking you through the Tanners Cellars Shop doors and across the wine globe.

We will introduce you to some of our producers at this tasting which will offer a selection of wines from Tanners portfolio and is hosted by the people that make them! The producers are eager for you to learn about the outstanding and various wines they have to offer.

Barolo, known as ‘the King of Wines and the Wine of Kings’ is one of the world’s great vinous pleasures and has been for nigh on 200 years, produced from Nebbiolo grapes grown in and around eleven communes in Piedmont, northwest Italy.
 
Fratelli Serio e Battista Borgogno have been a very welcome addition to our list since they first arrived in 2019. They have been making superb wines from their enviably situated property on the famed hill of Cannubi, just to the north of the town of Barolo, since 1897, and in 2018 they produced a brand-new wine…Barolo Albarella.
 
Albarella is a hillside vineyard just to the north of Cannubi, which enjoys a relatively cool elevated position with a sunny south-west aspect. The Borgogno team believe the wines in Albarella have a completeness, structured yet harmonious, while the young vines offer a natural freshness.
 
The beautiful labels are a reflection of the walks the team take through the vineyard during the different seasons, conveying a sense of peace and harmony as the world grows and changes around the vines. It will be fascinating to follow Albarella as the vineyard matures.

Two exceptional sparkling wines from one of England’s finest - Nyetimber.

First, a little pink to delight your palate, Nyetimber Rosé, a delicious sparkler that is full of class and finesse with wonderfully elegant strawberry fruit and a crisp finish.

And if that’s not enough, here comes their 2013 1086 Prestige Cuvée. Wine writer Matthew Jukes recently highlighted just why it’s such a star “I was a massive fan of the 2010 Nyetimber 1086 release, which showed total class and control from the off... So, it was with bated breath that I approached the newly released 2013 vintage. This is an even more detailed and sensual wine. Highlights included: André Clouet Grande Réserve Champagne, Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine Sur Lie, Les Gautronnières, Bonnet-Huteau, Saint-Aubin Blanc 1er Cru le Sentier du Clos, Henri Prudhon 2012, Tanners Spanish Reserva 2019, Felton Road Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2022 and a wonderful sweet Greek pudding wine from Samos.

We recently boosted our ever-popular Oddments list of fine and rare wines with the release of a selection of wines from our reserves. All from the 2004 and 2014 vintages, they’re ready for drinking now and primed for Christmas.
