We did something today, we got to get a sneak peak of the new Anishnawbe Health Toronto building on Cherry Street. It is mind blowing and 30 years ago I never would have ever thought this possible in Toronto but here we are. The grand opening is in January and it will absolutely be one of the most important buildings in our city. This is what we needed today to keep hope alive. Thank you @supportanishnawbe for having us. You are the best friends and partners. We 💜 you.
Inspiration!!!! This Moving art installation in Stratford has me so moved and I definitely want something like this to be one of our next projects... What symbol would you use to represent the ending of all war everywhere? The realization that we all have to stop the violence inside ourselves and outside ourselves... That we truly need to be "the change we wish to see in the world" Community members in Stratford made well over 10, 000 crocheted poppies.... What symbol would we make.... Remember right now people are being brutalized by oppressive regimes across the globe and supported by North America.... What message could send to get the world to say we actively want peace and don't want to find war??? If you have a suggestion put in the comments.
Final Pitch: 3.5 more hours to nominate us and spread the word. Please get all of your family/friends/raccoons to go to meridiancu.ca and nominate us for the Small Business, Big Impact awards!!!! Go Team Old's Cool! Let's see what we can do in one day!!!

Elijah: One of our OG's!!!
Elijah came in the other day and was just asking about all the renos, as we were talking he started to share his memories of coming to Old's Cool as a much much younger lad...and I had to get him on tape. This is a very small clip of what he said. Honestly, it's people like Elijah and his family that make our lives.
Thank you dear soul. We heart 💜 you big time.

The Old's Cool Glow Up - Update
Mariko and the powerhouse Old's Cool Community Crew (Nafs, Fatima, Neil, Adam, Gord, Faith, Shirina, Habiba, Dorothy .... Aka badass boss womyns) are still shaking it like a Polaroid picture and making progress on preparing Old's Cool 2.0 for us. OC2.0 is going to be even more engaging, interactive and hopefully a warming hug for the community to enjoy.
We will keep chugging along while open. Then to get the whole store front replaced it we need to close for over 2 weeks (worst time of the year but oh well, we can't make the glass manufacturers get it any faster for us) BUT we will definitely be back open by December 1st!!! Also we might do outdoor markets and other events outside the stoor to keep the love alive!
But potentially we will be closed from November 11th to the 29th....
We are always happy to have folks join us in the continued reconstruction just DM to let us know.
Big big big love to all of our beloved community members keeping us going we really appreciate all the efforts, even the occasional drop in for a quick hello and one of our yummy baked goods.
All the love from us!!!
The Sacred Fire and Community Ceremony at Blake Street Public School was very emotional and moving. Thank you to the organizers (@tdsbblake) for this special commemorative evening for Truth and Reconciliation/Orange Shirt Day.

For the Love of the Children and Young People, stop poisoning their home. The Young People of Grassy Narrows need everyone's support to stop the Corporate and Governmental players that are polluting Indigenous land not only in Grassy Narrows but across Canada. Support @grassy.narrows.solidarity
Over 5000 people showed up in Solidarity with the people of Grassy Narrows to say stop killing Indigenous people. Sister Kristy spoke about not only her repeated suicide attempts but the lives of so many lives that have been destroyed in her community due to mining and milling and governmental negligence. Support @grassy.narrows.solidarity This is a fight that not only can be won but needs to be addressed as part of Truth and Reconciliation. No more promises, it's time for action.
Feeling all the feels as we say goodbye to the monument that was the Angel of East York! Who was not me btw!!
