So we have entered another lockdown, it’s hard for everyone...

Children want to be back in school to see their friends, learn and take their exams that hold their future which will impact them.

Working parents want kids to go back to school because school closures directly impacts them.

Teachers don’t want schools to open because covid spreading round their school directly impacts them.

NHS staff want a full lockdown because sick covid patients directly impacts them.

Business owners want to carry on as normal because lockdown directly impacts them.

People with physical health problems want everyone to stay socially distant because catching covid could kill them.

People with mental health problems want people to spend time with family because isolation could kill them.

Some can’t wait for a vaccine because they believe it will bring back some normality.

Some are terrified of a vaccine because they believe it could harm them.

We are all going through this but none of us are going through the same thing. Some face crippling financial challenges, others face heart break. We don’t all have to agree with what is best because what’s best for us won’t be best for everyone. We don’t have to understand what others are going through. But we do need to stick together and keep loving each other no matter our differences. We need to be mindful when some things go the way we want it to, it could be terrible news to another person.

In December 2015, The Silva Spoon Café opened to the public, as a coffee bar, within Horton's Bake Shop in Fish Hoek. Offering take-out snacks, coffees and alternative products for those with specific dietary requirements.
Over time we expanded into a cosy sit-down nook with a homely feel, in the back streets away from the hub of the main drag.

Our menu selection and shop offerings of alternative friendly products gradually expanded, as too did our customer base, from business people, bible study cells, moms and teachers on lunch breaks all seeking the more tranquil private back section.
To students, commuters and passers-by needing the quick energy fix from the front-of-house.
We thank all our customers for their loyal support over the past four years.

2020 brought about change as the Café closed its doors to the public, for the last time in March and so...... we turn the final page of that chapter and start a new.

Now as The Silva Spoon Pantry we continue to offer a selection of friendly products that cater to many dietary needs including Allergies and Sensitivities, Diabetes, Vegan, Vegetarian, Banting, Paleo, Ketosis and Atkins.
Many products are made with gluten, wheat, dairy and cane sugar free alternative .
