CISA (Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture) has launched a search for a new Executive Director as Philip Korman, CISA’s longtime Executive Director, has announced that he will step down on August 30th of this year.
“CISA has been working for 31 years to build a local food system that is resilient, diverse, and just. Throughout the past 16 years of Phil’s leadership and dedication, CISA has grown and deepened its work,” said Jenny Ladd, Chair of CISA’s Board of Directors. “A recently-completed $1.8 million fundraising campaign means that Phil is leaving CISA well-positioned to expand its work addressing complex issues facing local farms and the local food system, including climate change, hunger, and racial inequity. We’re grateful to Phil for choosing a moment to depart that will enable a new leader to build meaningfully on those contributions, and we’re also excited for the fresh energy and creativity that a new leader can bring.”
“I’m beyond grateful to have spent these years working alongside CISA’s dedicated and brilliant staff and Board,” said Korman. “I’m proud to be leaving CISA in a strong financial position and in the extremely capable hands of the transition team, the Board, and the staff Management team. That stability, along with my own readiness to move on to new challenges, meant that this felt like the right time to entrust CISA to a new leader.”
“As we seek a new leader, we are committed to a process that honors the needs of CISA’s many constituencies and partners,” said Jenny Ladd. “We are looking for a strategic leader with vision, experience and financial acumen. They must be invested in collaborating with others, building community support, and deepening CISA's commitment to equity.”
