What better bubbles to have than Volcanalia’s?
Rossella is a winemaker based in Gamberalla, Veneto, who has the honour of working with grapes from the most ancient black lava soil vineyards of the region.
She works with the local Garganega grape, and experiments with both still and sparkling wine. Pictured above are her 2 pet nats and her traditional method sparkling wine.
You will find the hard work and precision of her work to reveal a different universe in each wine.

Cascina San Michele, Rosato Colla Rosa, 2022
bonarda
Piemonte, Italy
This rosato wine made from Italian Bonarda, making a delicious and refreshing pink wine with a vibrant and fruity character.
On the nose, it offers fresh and intense aromas of red berries such as strawberries, raspberries, and cherries, with hints of floral notes such as rose petals. On the palate, it is light and refreshing, with a crisp acidity that balances the fruitiness and provides a clean finish.
Its light and refreshing character make it an excellent choice for those looking for a delicious and easy-drinking wine- with character.

I personally have a weak spot for oaky Chardonnays, but I could also recommend our Austrian Riesling. Will you need a bag with that?

“I want to make wine that says ‘Please drink me, I love you, hug me’” – a quote by Austrian winemaker Christian Tschida. We completely agree, that's why we always stock many of his wines. Here's two of our latest favourites: Birdscape and Engel auf Erden. Engel auf Erden – Angels on Earth - is an example of such a huggable wine. This 12.5% Cabernet Franc is a fruit bomb of berries, red fruit, cherry and a hint of clove. The silky and slightly bubbly red is made with “pink maceration” - short contact with the red grapes’ skins - to get maximum fruitiness while keeping the tannins tame. Birdscape is a bright, natty red wine with beautiful flavours of cherry, pomegranate, cranberry and slight hints of cinnamon. Again here Christian uses his pink maceration method. This wine with an alcohol content of 11.6% is low in tannins and has a lovely minerality. It doesn’t only have a vibrant character but also a complex and elegant style. Fun fact: When Christian took over the family winery in 2003, most of the customers refused to follow his low-alcohol, elegant red vision. Luckily, his wine was selected by a major local bank, who decided to serve it during their fancy business lunches just because they didn’t want the executives to get drunk. Quite a story given he is now one of the most valued natural wine producers in the world.
Winemaker Jean has been experimenting with a new skin-contact cuvee which is nothing like his other wines: 2019 Underground Orange Velvet, a 100% skin-macerated Viognier pressed with Roussanne skins and aged in underground amphora. Underground Orange Velvet is a beautifully complex and bright wine, that’s high in tannins and radiates with orangey and lemony notes. Bubbles are created through the Pétillant Natural ('Pét Nat') method, translating to “natural sparkling”. This means that the wine is bottled before primary fermentation is finished, without the addition of secondary yeasts or sugars. Jean is the latest of three generations on the same farm and he converted the perch into an organic and biodynamic agriculture in 1997. No chemicals are used and Le Ferme des Sept Lunes is respectful of the moon cycle. Located just south of Lyon in one of the highest areas of St Joseph, visiting is not for the faint-hearted. Be ready for a tortuous 350m road-climb from the valley floor and wild hair-pins. This also means that the views are drop dead gorgeous.
In collaboration with our mates at @aceandtate we’d like to introduce our Wine Pack! Three captivating wines for you to sip this summer and a limited edition Ace & Tate x Rebel Wines tote bag to carry around all your picnic goodies in. Wine numero uno is natural sparkling wine Mas Suau from @ferreicatasuswinery in Catalunya. Dashingly dry with crisp acidity of citrus, apple and hints of almond. Delicious with appetizers such as cured ham, oysters and bruschetta. Next we have En Vrac from @wine_bohn . A non-vintage natural blend of Riesling and Sylvaner, with notes of crisp green apple, pear and a subtle odor of salted caramel and lime. Best enjoyed best with bbq’ed seafood, calamares and pulpo. Mambo number three is En Roue Libre, a Beaujolais from @ducrouxthibault. It’s a typical “glou-glou”: a fresh, easy drinkable red summer wine with hints of raspberry. Pair with cheeses from @fromagerie_kef and sourdough baguette. Shop a pair of sunnies at Ace & Tate and receive 15% discount at Rebel Wines, and/or treat yourself to the €29,95 Wine Pack and get a cut of €10 on all Ace & Tate shades in their three Amsterdam stores!
Le Primeur Pour les Filles from Lazio, the region around Rome. The red from winery Le Coste is made from the area’s most local and sincere red grape varieties: Aleatico. It’s fiercely sexy with tropical red flowers and maracuja on the nose, yet delicately outspoken on the palate with pomegranate confit and smoked cherries. Available in 0.75L, 1.5 Magnum and 3L Jeroboam for the thirsty!
Big news folks! We now sell carton boxes and wooden pallets as well😂 Jokes aside, we got a massive order in today. Two pallets of wine from France followed by another car trunk delivery. 1742 beautiful bottles to be precise, which @amira._.m carried inside. She is now a semi-professional body builder. One of the pallets that came in today is from out newest BFF @ducrouxthibault. More on that later this week! Can’t wait? Please come by the store and we will tell you all about him!
