Every winter, the hill behind our distillery becomes a beacon for migrating flocks of greenland white-fronted geese. Their summer home in North America inspired the use of distinctive white oak Bourbon & Virgin oak casks to mature this release; key lime pie and honeycomb notes, with a toffee apple and delicate citrus finish.

The legendary Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey: the Pappy van Winkle's 15 Years Old - Family Reserve 53.5% 750ml (Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery).

At the age of 18, my grandfather, Julian P. "Pappy" Van Winkle, Sr., started working as a salesman for W.L. Weller & Sons Wholesale in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1892, just after he graduated from Centre College in Danville, Ky. He would be known soon after as one of the finest whiskey makers in the country.
This bourbon is a younger expression of our famous 20 years old Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve. The whiskey in this bottle was produced according to our exclusive family wheated recipe, and it was specially selected from barrels in the heart of our warehouses here in Kentucky.
This fine bourbon has remained undisturbed for 15 years to age in deep-charred heavy oak... untouched by human hands...unhurried by time. I am proud to set my family name upon it.
Julian P. Van Winkle, III is the third generation Van Winkle to produce bourbon whiskey in Kentucky.

The Bowmore 1973 - Sherry Casks 43% 750ml.

Islay’s oldest working distillery, Bowmore was established in 1779 and is now regarded as one of the most popular malts not only on Islay, but in the whole of Scotland. The pure water and plentiful peat used at Bowmore combine to produce this distinctive and unique Malt Whisky which has been specially selected from Sherry Casks maturing in the oldest warehouse at the distillery dating back to 1779.

Sometimes we are lucky that we’re able to taste old and rare whiskies. When we bought this amazing Macallan 25 Years Old 1965 1990 - The Anniversary Malt, we concluded that the cork had detoriorated over time and could not be send to a new owner safely elsewhere in the world. Therefore we decided the open the Macallan and taste it. What an incredible whisky from the begin 60s! We love our job! 😁

The Masseto 2020 - Tenuta dell Ornellaia (3-bottles OWC). Reviewed with 96+ Parker points.

The 2020 Masseto now sees new DNA with a touch of Cabernet Franc added to this celebrated Merlot-based icon wine. This is a vintage of enormous richness and density, and everything about the wine is taken up a notch or two (including the bottle glass weight and the 15% alcohol content). But Axel Heinz and his team are well prepared for the hot vintages like 2020, and changes to farming and canopy management ensure even ripening. This wine is always hard to analyze in its youth. It needs many more years to soften and flesh out. Give it time!

The Karuizawa 28 Years Old 1984 2012 - Carpe Koï Serie - Cask 4021 64.5% (Closed distillery). Only 275 bottles have been made worldwide!

Karuizawa Distillery was established in 1955 in the foothills of Mount Asama, an active volcano. The area is a popular mountain resort to the north-west of Tokyo and the distillery is the highest in Japan at 850 meters above sea level.

The environment is ideal for whisky production, enjoying low temperatures and high humidity. Production of single malt whisky at the distillery ceased in 2000.
Single cask releases from Karuizawa distillery have picked up numerous awards in recent years.

The Philipponnat Champagne Aoc Extra Brut 'Clos des Goisses' 2013 (98 Parker Points). We have six bottles in OWC.

Surpassing even the 2012 and 2008, Philipponnat's 2013 Extra-Brut Clos des Goisses looks to be the finest vintage of this cuvée in several decades, at least on first acquaintance. Deriving from only the six core parcels out of the 13 that make up the Clos des Goisses, it's a striking wine, evoking aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, Anjou pear, clear honey, bee pollen, stone fruit and iodine. Full-bodied, layered and vinous, its textural attack segues into a deep, concentrated and tightly wound mid-palate that's girdled by racy acids and chalky structure, before concluding with a long, saline finish. Why is it quite so good? It would appear that 2013 was the perfect storm: an early-ripening terroir in a cool, late vintage; moderately yielding Burgundian selections of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that attained full maturity; and a willingness to make a strict selection have all come together to deliver a profound Clos des Goisses: 98 Parker Points.

This release embraces the re-use of natural materials in its packaging, creating beauty from resources at the end of their natural lives. To mark this deep connection with the land, discarded meadow cuttings have been given new life in this presentation box and bottle labels.

The presentation box features photography by Mary McCartney of The Macallan Estate.

The McCartney sisters' love of Scotland stems from their memories of summer days in amber fields at the family farm in the Scottish countryside.

They describe nature as both energising and serene, contrasting qualities rekindled by this collaboration. This affinity with the land inspires joyful memories of family, sisterhood and community.

The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team have taken inspiration from natural Scottish grasslands to create this distinctive expression, redolent of warm meadows and mature barley fields, with a rich, citrus scented finish, using a combination of both sherry seasoned oak and bourbon casks.

The PIPER-HEIDSIECK Rare - Millésime 2008 - Champagne Brut (in luxury case).

The 2008 Brut Cuvée Rare, now re-baptized as "Rare Champagne," continues to evolve at a glacial pace. Offering up aromas of citrus oil, freshly baked bread and wet stones, it's medium to full-bodied, taut and incisive, with a tangy spine of acidity and a pretty pinpoint mousse, but much in the way of texture or amplitude has yet to emerge. While I continue to think that this has the makings of a very attractive bottling, continued patience is advised: 93+ Parker Points.
