Hello all, again! In common with other businesses in Orkney we are going to cut our opening hours, this is to protect our lovely staff who work so hard in the shop
Without them there would be no shop
So the opening hours will be 9-4 Monday to Saturday and we will stay closed on Sunday
This is only until things become “normal” again.
We are also going to limit the amount of customers coming in the shop to three at a time. And please no bairns for the meantime 😊 so sorry

Just a peedie message to say we have put some safety measures in place to protect everyone! We would ask that you follow the instructions that we have in place by following the signs around the shop
We continue to offer a free delivery service in and around Deerness and Toab for people who don’t wish to come out and we also have a collection box outside the shop that we can put shopping in to save the need to come in the shop.
We would also politely ask that people come in and get their shopping and leave as quickly as they can as I doot the days of social chatting is over for the moment! Sorry 😐
We thank you for your co-operation at this horrid difficult time but things will eventually get back to normal if we follow the guidelines!

Needing something simple and sweet this rainy Sunday? We have you covered!

15's is a brilliantly tastey and simple recipe:
🏋️‍♀️Bash up 15 digestive biscuits into crumbs
✂️ Chop up 15 cherries and 15 marshmallows
🥄Add a tin of condensed milk and mix all together
👏🏼Then roll either into little balls or into a long roll (which you could cut up after it's set)
👌🏻 Roll your chosen shape through some desiscated coconut and place in the fridge to set

Try not to eat it all at once, it'll be tricky!! Enjoy 😍🥳

Sweeten up your weekend with this simple yet delicious recipe! All you need is 1 tin of condensed milk and 500g of chocolate of your choice! Simply melt together in the microwave (or on the hob) until combined and then add the contents of your choice, if using biscuits like oreos or custard creams 😍 bash them up first to make the most of them! Then leave to chill in the fridge, try to resist them for at least 3 hours! Then cut up and enjoy 😋

Our 2 speech making teams have been busy practicing for the North Speechmaking competition which was due to be held this Sunday in Orkney. We were very disappointed to hear that the competition has been cancelled but now we will look ahead to the National Competition at the RBS Conference Centre, Edinburgh on Saturday 11th December.

Good news everyone! Deerness Stores is starting to open on Sundays again on the 2nd, AND they've got the wonderful orkney ice cream in again! Now I am aware deerness can be quite a trek for some of you but now not only will you be able to come a visit The Happy Hut (open Sunday the 2nd from 10-4) you can also nip into the shop (open on Sunday the 2nd from 12-4) for a delcious ice cream, fancy or even some nice argos bakes!

Let's make 2 local business do a happy dance this Sunday. And dear sun, please keep shining 🌞

Hello everyone,
My name is Jocelyn and throughout lockdown I have been lucky enough to get a shed and set it us as a craft space. I know that having a space to go to work in and take a breather from the rest of the world is needed sometimes, especially when life begins to feel busy and a bit chaoitic and so here I am opening my craft space up. I will be hosting open days and visiting times where people can come to my shed - named 'The Happy Hut' to either craft along side me or come for a coffee and a shopping experience! For now the shed is still a work in progress but dates and times will be coming soon!

I am out in Deerness, and though that may seem a far treck for some of you this little parish has so much to offer. If you were to come out for an open day not only could you get a coffee, maybe a bit of cake, a new bandana and set of earrings but you could also visit some of the many other things Deerness has to offer..
We have a whole host of stunning beaches and walks, the local play park can be the home of many cherished memories, nip to Deerness Stores for a bite to eat, maybe even an ice cream. And we mustn't forget the Deerness Distillery, book a tour (covid depending) or nip in for some of their award winning gin. A trip to The Happy Hut can be a fun day out for the whole family!
