Thank you so so much to everyone who visited, browsed and shopped yesterday at the Bruntsfield Christmas Shopping Night. We had a fantastic time! It was particularly great to be able find some time to have a lovely chat with some of you.

Artists Profile: Must Dash

Say hello to Karen, the illustrator behind Must Dash illustration 👋. I'll let her introduce herself and her work ⬇️⬇️

I live in the Southside of Glasgow, where I drink lots of tea and spend most of my time running around after two little people. I started must dash in 2012 after I took part in a drawing challenge to create 100 doodles in 100 days.

I work mostly in fine line pen to create characters and stories through pattern, textures and silhouettes, and turn my illustrations into greeting cards, prints and jewellery. As well as doing my own illustrations I also take on commissions to create bespoke illustrations for wedding stationary, anniversaries, ‘big’ birthdays, new baby and other memorable occasions.

Artists profile: Workshop After Six

Say hello to Sinan and Melike who are leather craftspeople. They make leather accessories such as belts, wallets, journals, organisers, and many more. All their items are handmade by them from full grain and vegetable tanned leather, in their small studio in Edinburgh.

We have stocked their beautiful products since the very early days of our shop!

Pictured are a selection of keyrings, a notebook cover, a card holder & coin purse and a travel organiser.

Since it's officially autumn (as of 7:50 this morning) I thought I would embrace reds and oranges. It can be easy to get caught up in the joy of bright colours - see our blue shop front - but there is something grounding and calming about rich oranges. The leaves turning lovely hues of red is definitely one of my favourite things about autumn in Edinburgh 🍁

Our mascot Rafael has been getting a lot of attention recently. Just today two separate people asked if he was for sale! Unfortunately not but I thought I would take this opportunity to show off some of our furry friends that are for sale. The sheep is by Hoorish, the Highland Cow from islander and the cat (does it count as fluffy if it's ceramic?) is made by Louise Crookenden Johnston. Rafael is also modeling a collar and neckerchief from Bark and Hare.

Our hand-knitted highland cow by made this little one so happy by travelling all the way across to the US to her.

Officially introducing Rafael!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped us name our furry friend. We were overwhelmed by the number of responses and after much deliberation settled on Rafael which was suggested by .

Rafael brings excitement, cuteness and the occasional verse of "how much is that doggie in the window" to our shop front. And he does it all whilst modeling a beautiful collar and neckerchief by .

Pop by our shop any time between 10:00 and 17:00 to visit Rafael 🐾

This great record shop stocks a huge range of music, and prides itself on sourcing whatever your heart desires. It has a great focus on indie music, and we love their focus on reducing plastic waste by recycling vinyl shrink wrap 😍

We spoke to the owner, Mark, who says his favourite gift he’s ever received was a Super Nintendo when he was 13 from ‘Santa’ 😉 an excellent choice! 🎮
