A BIG THANK-YOU!!! THIS IS WHAT COMUNITY IS ALL ABOUT!!!
Last night one of our staff members left her shift early to drive back to Saskatoon due to weather conditions. We always try and have at least 2 team members in the store but were down to 1. A gentleman came in our store to buy a bottle and our only staff member was working in an area where he unfortunately didn't see him come in. This lovely man stood at the till for a short period, walked back to check the price on the item he was purchasing, waved some money in the air (for the camera to see) and left the cash at the till. Our intention was not to ignore our customer and we feel terrible that we didn't see him BUT we appreciate the honestly this gentleman showed. This shows that our community shines and that we support each other and we have nothing but gratitude for that. Thank-you very, very much!

Did you know the original version of a Tequila Sunrise was invented in the 1930’s and was made with Creme de Cassis, lime and soda water? Nothing like it is today! The modern version of the drink was invented in the 1970’s at a hotel in California. The Tequila Sunrise is now an official cocktail on the International Bartender Association’s IBA official cocktails list!

Stop by Maverick & Co Liquor to grab some of your favourite gin to try this Strawberry Gin Smash recipe in celebration of (June 11)!

Ingredients
5 Strawberries
Juice from Half a Lemon
1 tsp Honey
4-5 Mint Leaves
2 oz Gin (We used Stumbletown!)
2 oz Ginger Beer

Instructions
Place strawberries (leafy ends removed), lemon juice, honey and mint leaves in a cocktail shaker. Use a muddler to gently muddle the mint leaves, but don't muddle too much or you'll break up the leaves.

Add gin and stir to combine.

Fill one glass ⅔ of the way full with the strawberry mixture and ice, straining optional.

Top with ginger beer. Add extra mint leaves and strawberries for garnish!

Do you know about Dirty Laundry Vineyard’s promiscuous past? Well, we're airing out their dirty laundry!

In the late 1800s, while the Canadian Pacific Railway was being built through British Columbia, thousands of Chinese labourers were hired to build the railway under very dangerous conditions. One of these labourers, Sam Suey, had had enough and left his position to open his own Chinese laundry service in Summerland, B.C.

As the story goes, Sam’s business was VERY successful, with the laundromat downstairs, and the waiting room upstairs, where his clients enjoyed free drinks, gambling, and the company of a lady!

The locals kept the business “hush hush” and referred to Sam’s laundromat as “dirty laundry.” Dirty being done upstairs, while laundry was done downstairs.

This wine is definitely a Maverick & Co Liquor staff pick that you need to try! Find it in our Canadian wine section 🍷🇨🇦

The Barolo grape only grows in the mountains of Italy, above the fog lines so that the altitude condenses the grape, making it lighter and fruitier. It is so popular in the region that many people have chosen Barolo as their children's middle name.

Most Barolos are a couple hundred dollars, but we were able to bring in an entry level bottle for $41.99 for you to try!

This Batasiolo Vini wine is very good, very smooth, making it VERY popular when we get more in stock! We have some customers who buy it by the case. We highly recommend giving it a try!
