Full season results posted tonight and managed a consistent year and some solid improvements in the Qld Rankings!

3rd Modlites Qld season pointscore
3rd Campbells Trick and Bobcat Series and
6th Dondex Extreme Series
Congrats to the three c’s Callum, Casey and Corey!

A great season with some huge car counts and a lot of new drivers next season bringing new cars - it’s gunna be huge!!!

Saturday night we closed the door on season 23/24 with the annual Modlites Qld presentation dinner. A fantastic night to catch up with all the drivers outside of the normal intensity of a race meeting. Big thanks to all the organisers and volunteers for making it happen and all the sponsors of the division.

We even came away with some silverware:
3rd in the Qld club championship pointscore
3rd in the Campbells series and
Voted drivers driver for the year.

A great honour to have the respect of your peers and something to build on what we achieved this path season. We wouldn’t have been able to achieve this without our partners Western Truck Group, Profilt, Diatte Racing Innovations, BJD Group and Contract 1 Australia.

A little wrap up of our 2023/24 season. A pretty consistent year hovering around the top 5 at most shows. We were able to run as far south as Victoria and South Australia which was a valuable experience. We have many great partners involved in our race team and I can’t thank Western Truck Group enough for there support along with Rod Wood at Profilt Australia, Ben and Jess Dare at BJD group, Andrew at Comtract 1 Australia and Ryan Diatte at Diatte racing innovations for always lending a hand and answering all my dumb setup questions and of course Big Ed for crewing and traveling all the long kilometres with me. Preparations for season 24/25 are about to get underway and with Modlites in Qld booming it will be another big season.

Cool few nights of speedway at Toowoomba with the final event of the Extreme series in support of the Aussie Late model title.

Kicked of Wednesday night giving the Hanceys Turf late model team a bit of a hand. Thanks Klinton, Mitch, Michael and Glenn for giving me a bit of an insight!

Friday night the Modlite was in action. Grabbed a heat win in the first one. 5th in heat 2 leaving us 6th in points and locked into the A main. Settled in for the first 13 laps in 6th then looped in pushing a bit hard with 7 to go. Went to the rear and was able to get back to 12th at the flag. Thanks to Steve and Bryton for jumping in the crew with Ed handing in his medical certificate and unable to attend.

We have one show left at Maryborough this weekend for the two night Dirt Nationals so a quick turn around is underway. Thanks to our partners:

Night 2 Aussie title wrap:
Let’s just say we might have to put this one behind us. Heading into the night in P16 in points we needed a couple of strong heat races to capitalise. We started heat 1 from 6 and finished 7th after getting to 4th. Heat 2 we started 8th and was up the inside of car 7 and had the nose chopped off resulting in the 7 car suffering a big roll. We thought we were alongside enough for some racing room to be given but contact was made. We were disqualified from the heat race and were pretty disappointed in the stewards decision.

For those suggesting it was deliberate that was 100% not the case as we like to race fair and clean and that’s what we have prided ourselves on for so long. To get claps from the other team owner returning to the pits was also pretty disappointing as I felt terrible for what had resulted.

We finished the heat races 20th in points and started the B main from 4th. Had a great battle with Chaddy from SA who made us work for the transfer spot. We started the a main from p20 and couldn’t really move forward on a low line dominant track and finished 14th at the flag. Great to make the a main but also felt we had a bit more to offer than where we finished.

Thanks to the team at Modlites Nsw and Grafton Speedway for organising a wonderfull show and going over and above to get things sorted. Congrats to Ed on your calcutta win after the 4th in the B main. Well worth a punt!!

A little round up of night 1 of the Aussie title from Grafton.
Heat 1 - 5th to 4th car felt good on a juicy track
Heat 2 - 4th to 9th contact with another car sent the nerf bar into the RR tyre shredding
Heat 3 - 1st and grabbed a heat win and bag of points to slot us into 15th heading into night 2. Very stiff competition so hopefully we can slot straight in to the A main with 2 more heat races to go !

It’s title week!!! Excited to spend a few nights in the car this weekend for the 2024 edition of the Australian title kicking off with practice Thursday night at Grafton Speedway. We might not be there to win it but hoping we can be competive and run close to a top
10 finish. Thanks to our wonderful supporters that make it all possible.

Let’s say the Qld title didn’t quite go to plan. We slotted in at 34th in points after the 3 heat races after a pretty tough run. Heat 1 we punctured a RR tyre leaving us at the tail to finish 10th. Heat 2 Luke mucked up and looped it to finish 10th again. In the final heat we managed to finish 5th leaving us well down the order in points and starting the evens B main from 8th with the top 2 to transfer.

After a lucky run in the B moving from 8th to 2nd we joined the back row of the A main to start from P20. A decent A main with some great battles along the way we were credited with 13th at the Chequers and receive the hard charger award for passing the most cars. Top 10 was the aim to fall just short but coming from 34th in points it was a decent result.

Big thanks to Ed for putting up with a few dummy spots along the way. Congrats to Corey, Nathan and Terry on the podiums and the club for a great well run meeting. The next show will be Easter weekend for the big Aussie title !!!

Title time!! Today sees the running of the 2024 Qld modlite title. These events are always special and this year will be different with 40 cars nominated! It’s going to be tough to even scrape into the A main! Let’s hope for a trouble free run!

Well you guessed it ! Finished in P5 again last night which is starting to become an ongoing theme. On a positive note the car feels great and we didn’t suffer any damage from the infamous Gympie circuit. Heat 1 started 2nd and finished 2nd. Heat 2 started 6th and finished 3rd and in the final heat some footage below of some great respectfully racing against fierce competitors started 4th and finished 2nd. This left us 5th in points and starting out of 5. We briefly got to third but a sneaky yellow light came out just got us pushed back to 4th and then dropping a position after the restart to end up 5th at the flag. Another solid result which should see us in the top 5 in points for the Campbells series. Our attention now turns to a couple of big races in the Qld and Australian championships. Hopefully we can achieve a top 10 in both of these. Big thanks to Ed for all his help and also our valued sponsors.

We were able to grab a heat win in heat race 2 and thank our supporters for all they do for us. Heat 1 was a bit of a struggle on a wet track starting from 5th and finishing 6th. Snuck the win in heat 2 from pole. Finished 4th in heat 3 from P10 after contact early in putting a lot of toe out in the RH front. This put us out of position 6 for the A main. Got up to 4th for a few laps and ended up settling for 5th so another good points haul in the Campbells series leaving us currently 3rd with 1 round to go and a few people around us to play there joker card for double points.

Today we head to Carina speedway in Bundaberg for Round 7 of the Campbells series. We currently sit 4th in points with 2 rounds to go. Today we play our joker 🃏 card which allows us to capitalise on double points for the feature event. Let’s hope for a good result in tonight’s A main!!

Good hit out last night at Toowomba. Heat 1 started from 4th and ended up 2nd. Heat 2 started from 6th and was able to grab a heat win only just. This made us equal highest pointscorer with Corey and Ryan. Those 2 guns had a superior lap time so we started out of three in the A main. A decent run in the first 10 laps hanging onto a podium spot but faded to 6th at the Chequers. Still a good night out with plenty of car speed and another consistent run. Thanks to our partners for all there support it’s so valued by the team.
