Darling Brew at Fools & Fans Beer Festival

We're still going strong at Fools & Fans 8 in Greyton, and the vibes are next level today!

Yesterday was all about the homebrewers showing off their Best Bitter skills (we might have had a few tasters... or maybe more 🤫). Now, it's our turn with the commercial brewers, and trust us, we’ve got some of the freshest, most exciting brews here for you to taste! And if you're in the mood for some serious beer variety, this is the place to be.

But it wouldn’t be a Fools & Fans festival without a bit of extra fun—and today, we’re bringing the heat (literally) with the 8 AM run that kicked off the day and the legendary Braaibroodtjie competition. Nothing pairs better with a great brew than a crispy, cheesy braaibroodtjie.

Ever wanted to ride your bike in the middle of nowhere, unplug from the rat race, and sokkie under the stars with Gerhard Steyn? Well, here’s your sign.

The Nieuwoudtville Great Trek, proudly powered by Klawer Wynkelder / Klawer Wines and Darling Brew, is not just another stage race. It’s a full-blown adventure - in the heart of the Karoo – with only 150 spots open for the brave.

What to expect:

🌅 Stage 1 – The Sunset Cruise (20km)
Ease in. Sip local wines and the best craft beers. Watch the sun melt into the Knersvlakte. Mingle with fellow masochists (we mean riders).

💪 Stage 2 – The Big One (45km or 100km)
Choose your hurt. Jeep tracks, gravel, dust, and that “why-am-I-doing-this” feeling. Get rewarded with local hospitality, snacks, and a free ticket to Gerhard Steyn’s sokkie at Die Blou Huis. Karoo chaos guaranteed.

🌻 Stage 3 – The Cool Down (40km)
Cruise through botanical gardens, wildflowers, and wide open nothingness. Legs sore, heart full, memory card overflowing.

We’re celebrating 12 years of Darling Brew Extreme (DBX) in 2025, and we couldn’t be more excited. Over the years, DBX has become one of the Western Cape's most sought-after one-day rides - and this year promises to be the best yet!

We’ve teamed up with Kevin Wood, one of the original DBX founders, to bring you exclusive, off-the-beaten-path routes through Darling’s stunning landscapes.

Darling Brew’s Summer Madness Winners: Celebrating Craft, Community & Connection

At Darling Brew, we believe in great beer, great people, and unforgettable moments. Our Summer Madness Competition was a true celebration of all these elements, and it’s time to honour the incredible partners and their hardworking teams who made it all happen!

For two months (December 2024 – January 2025), bars and restaurants across South Africa competed to sell the most Darling Brew. The rewards? Amazing prizes for both outlets and waitstaff, including epic getaways, big-screen TVs, and even Beer for a Year.

We hosted a special awards luncheon at the brewery to celebrate our top performers. From an exclusive brewery tour to learning about the stories behind our award-winning beers, it was an afternoon filled with connection, camaraderie, and of course, plenty of cheers!
