A recap of key details as we count down to the closing date for the nominations of the Makoti of the Year 2024 and Zibazana of the Year 2024...in partnership with SPAR Eastern Cape 🎉🎉🎉 The competition is only open to ceremonies (weddings and imigidi) which occur between 14 January 2024 and 11 January 2025. The Makoti of the Year or Zibazana of the Year is nominated by someone other than themselves, but with the consent of the nominee having been obtained prior to submission to Makoti Assist for entrance. The nominator must fill in a nomination form available from Makoti Assist on the links provided below: Makoti of the Year form: https://forms.gle/Cmx4ZacKaG8NqBxi9 Zibazana of the Year form: https://forms.gle/RH2yfbmTj4Qa48PSA Nominations close on the 15th of January 2025. Voting will begin on 16th of January 2025 based on the Top 20 most nominated entrants and will close on the 31st of January 2025. Thereafter the overall winner who will walk away with the Grand Prize of R10 000 SPAR voucher courtesy of SPAR Eastern Cape will be announced. This annual competition serves as a remarkable platform to celebrate and elevate the essence of ubuntu bethu and the role women play in uplifting our culture and traditions. The Zibazana of the Year is not just a competition, it is a testament to the strength, resilience and myriad accomplishments of women who have left an indelible mark in our community and beyond. We acknowledge that different families apply unique traditions and culture when it comes to the imigidi. The criteria for the Zibazana of the Year is solely based on the best traditional outfit worn by the Zibazana at various stages of umgidi, as nominated and voted for by the public.
