Our Kramerville store remains open until 5pm on Monday 23 December for those who want to pop in. Our last Saturday Sipping Session for the year is on Saturday 21 December. Come and see what gift ideas we have or just pop in for a chat and taste. We’d love to see you.

Online orders remain open throughout the holiday week, but all orders placed after 18 December cannot be guaranteed delivery before Christmas. Remember the courier companies are also running at full capacity this time of the year, so normal delivery times could be affected.

Created by visionary winemaker, Nic Van Aarde for his wife, Renche. This wine celebrates a commitment to craftsmanship combined with simple, elegant design that showcases how a slower pace and unpretentious way of life can create room to behold the finer things in life.

Glen Heatlie Grenach Blanc 2023 is HERE!
Right off the back of taking the Grenache Blanc of the year with Platters we are smitten with this COOL wine made in just such a cool way.

100% Grenache Blanc – This wine comes from 9-year-old bush vines located on the east-facing “Agter-Groenberg” slope, with vines oriented east to west. The site’s deep clay soils are rich in iron ferricrete at the surface.

The 2023 vintage marks the third harvest from this site, with grapes hand-picked into small lugs over two dates in February. The year was exceptional in terms of quality.
Winemaking involved two separate picks. First pick – After overnight cooling, the grapes were hand-sorted and gently whole-bunch pressed. Natural settling in tank followed by careful racking the following day to include as much fine lees as possible. The juice was then racked into 500 litre barrels, where fermentation occurred with indigenous yeasts, followed by a further spontaneous malolactic fermentation in barrel.

Second pick – Same process but a small portion of the whole clusters underwent carbonic maceration, fermented with must from the first pick, then pressed and moved to a small tank.

Sur-lie contact was extended to 15 months, with additional Grenache Blanc fine lees added at the 9 month mark. The final blend includes 7.5% of the carbonic portion.

Tokara Director’s Reserve White 2021, a wine of true stature from a stellar vintage.
Crafted from Tokara’s highest slopes on Simonsberg, Stellenbosch, this wine is a remarkable blend of 68% Sauvignon Blanc and 32% Semillon.
Only free run juice is used for this wine, fermented in 400L French oak barrels, of which about a third new. After fermentation, the wine was left on the lees for a further 9 months. Blending and bottling is done at the end of the year and then aged in bottle at the cellar for approximately another 2 years before release.
It dazzles with a pale straw brilliance, aromas of passionfruit, pink grapefruit, and toasted brioche, and a vibrant, zesty palate. It’s complex in flavour and texture yet refined to the core.

Pair it with saffron-infused creamy seafood or grilled white fish for a culinary delight. Rated 95 points by Tim Atkin, it’s set to age beautifully through 2035!

Momento began in 2013 while Marelise Niemann was winemaker at Beaumont Family Wines in Bot River. She has since become known for wines of purity, elegance and honesty, working with old vines in both Bot River and the Swartland with a minimal intervention approach, putting terroir front and centre.

Marelise’s fascination with Grenache was stirred by her time in the Priorat region in Spain, where, along with Eben Sadie, she was inspired by how the old vine fruit was produced in such a fresh and vibrant way. She returned to South Africa determined seek out old vine Grenache.

From the heart of the Loire Valley, Domaine Vacheron brings you Sancerre wines of unmatched elegance and precision.
The Vacheron domaine has about 43.5 hectares of vines, nearly all of which is in the town of Sancerre. They have been strong pioneers of organic and biodynamic viticulture and today they are one of the largest and most successful natural producers in the region. They use traditional tillage systems and fortifying the vineyards with nettle and herbal preparations that they believe return the nutrients to the soil.
Today we’re excited to spotlight their Sancerre Blanc, a true expression of their flinty and limestone-rich terroir. Crafted entirely from biodynamic Sauvignon Blanc, these wines deliver vibrant minerality, refreshing acidity, and layers of complexity. Naturally fermented in stainless steel and aged for 4 months on the lees before bottling. A perfect match for seafood, creamy cheeses, or simply enjoyed on its own.

A full south-facing vineyard, ‘Les Romains’ was one of the domaine’s first ‘single-vineyard’ bottlings (the first vintage was 1997). Pure flint (silex) soils, rich in fossilized material; such soils contribute a minerality and smokiness to the wine. In the cellar, the grapes are hand-harvested and fermented on indigenous yeasts in large, upright wooden fermentation tanks. After fermentation, the wine is racked and then aged for one year in the same wooden tank.
Whether you’re a fan of classic elegance or bold expressions, these Sancerres promise a journey into the heart of one of France’s most iconic wine regions.

Wine Tastings

Wine Menu have become known for focused, educational tastings in Johannesburg. This year marks the 8th annual Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Festival on Thursday 30 May 2019 at Killarney Country Club. Tickets @ R250 are available on www.webtickets.co.za as well as at our shop at 3 Desmond, Kramerville. Entry includes unlimited tasting of the more than 100 wines available on the night. Light snacks will also be served throughout the evening.
