It's the weekend!

Born and raised in the UK, Richard was a chef before finding his love for wine. "I love cooking, I love food and I love working with my hands which is why I became a chef."
He worked for two years as one before he enthusiastically got sucked into the wine scene. To get out and immerse himself in the wide world of wine, he worked in California, Chile, Bordeaux, Hungary and Germany before settling in South Africa in 1999.

Richard passed his Master of Wine exam on Sept 5th, 2011. He is one of a handful of Masters of Wine who actively make wine and the only one who makes wine in South Africa.

The actors:
Marius Burger Senior commenced his career in the wine industry over three decades ago, after a 15yrs in the corporate world, he registered the Roodekrantz brand. His enduring love for vineyards remained, propelling an ongoing quest to discover unique vineyards that communicate the stories of their site and soil.
Marius Jnr joined the business and became involved in the Cellar, assisting Cellarmaster, Danie Morkel.

The majority of the vineyards with which we work are certified old vineyard wines, but we also experiment with vineyards that are less than 30 years old in order to identify future potential.

Urban Wines is a dream I have had for many years. With 9 years experience in the wine industry, Lisa has taken her love and passion for wine and poured it into unique creative space, where this can be shared with you.
