Time to say goodbye – Thank you, Alison! 🍷

After decades of dedication, hard work, and unwavering loyalty, we bid a farewell to Alison Turrall, who will be retiring at the end of February 2025.

Alison's journey with Getwine began all the way back in 1986, when our business was still known as Van Riebeeck Liquors. She was a pillar of support during those early years when our parents moved from Nelspruit to start a liquor business in Cape Town. In 1994, she moved on to work with Ian Rubin, but Johan never lost touch, always jokingly asking, "Ali, when are you coming back to Getwine?"

Alison re-joined our team in 2010 to manage our Harrington Street outlet in Cape Town. With her deep retail experience of more than 46 years and exceptional leadership, she made an immense impact, successfully running the store for the last fifteen years.

Now, as she embarks on a well-earned retirement with her husband Barry, we can’t help but feel a little sad to see her go. But we know she’ll be enjoying this next chapter to the fullest—and hopefully, she’ll still pop in during those extra-busy times!

Alison, from all of us at Getwine, thank you for everything you’ve done for our business over the years. We wish you all the best for a happy and fulfilling retirement! 💐🍾
