If passed this would add one more kayak, canoe, and SUP access point along the 13 mile York River, bringing the total number of boat landings or docks we shuttle equipment to/from to four:

1) Scotland Bridge
2) Rt 1 Bridge
3) Strawberry Island / Harris Island Rd,
and potentially (hopefully🤞!),
4) Goodrich Park.

YORK, Maine — Canoes, [kayaks,] paddle boats and paddleboards may soon have a new place to launch at Goodrich Park as the town looks to expand public access to the York River.

York's Selectboard voted Dec. 9 to approve $75,000 for designs and permitting for the new dock, which would not be for motorized watercraft. The board voted to hire the firm GEI Consultants to work on the designs. … “

Crescent Crew tandem kayak delivery to Nantucket Island? ✅

From the comfort of his home, Chris called NES last week to talk through a duck hunting vessel he’d like to create using the Crew as its platform. This model was chosen for its stability, paddling efficiency, open layout, and range of rigging options for Chris and his dog.

After finalizing Chris’ order, ‘white glove delivery’ was arranged for a Monday afternoon hand-off to a building supplies company on the mainland.

Jake at Premium Plywood + Specialties & Marvin Design Gallery was very accommodating. This was a much faster, less expensive, and more secure/reliable means of shipping than it would have been going through a carrier like FedEx. PPS is scheduled to ferry the kayak over to the island as part of their daily lumber deliveries.

🍂 November isn’t usually the kind of month most of us have a nagging itch to get outside. The signs of shorter days, migrating geese, brittle leaves, and frosty mornings usually shift us into a slower mode of living—nesting ourselves at home; simmering soups and getting the firewood uncovered. But the weather has been so nice!

Either way, November is a time of transition. That means in support of all of you and your seasonal endeavors, we here at NES are transitioning, too!

In the months ahead we will be rolling out some programs to help us all stay physically and spiritually active—engaged with the inspiration of nature. Winter trekking will be at the core of how we help you explore. Hot food and natural history will play a part, too! 🥾

What a beautiful autumn day it is to be walking along the water district trails!

Thought you’d all enjoy the mesmerizing sights of painted turtles swimming what is now a brook of sorts that passes under a land bridge connecting a bog with one of the local reservoirs.

The entire waterway is much narrower and shallower than usual due to a large drop in rainfall over the last few months. It was a bittersweet experience. For all of us that live around here, if we can find ways to conserve a bit more water, I am sure these little guys would appreciate it!
