We are excited to welcome a new producer to the portfolio, Foolhardy Vintners!

Working from the belief that winemaking be transparent, foolhardy’s bottlings showcase the energy and vibrancy of carefully selected grapes.

It starts with outstanding Columbia Valley vineyards that consistently yield Cabernet Sauvignon with ripe, juicy flavors.

They use judicious quantities of the finest French oak that frames the wine, lending texture without overt flavor.

Founders Jonathan Edelman and Dan Sogg chose Washington State because of the unlimited potential in the vineyards and the tremendous dynamism of the local wine culture.

Congratulations to Domaine Les Pins! Wine Enthusiast has awarded their Bourgueil Les Rochettes '21 90pts and Best Buy!

Represented by an old 15th century building, the Domaine Les Pins has been a family business for five generations.

The Les Rochettes has a nose of red fruits with a fine and silky entry. Very balanced evolution in the glass between red fruit aromas, roasted herbs, hints of espresso and round tannins. Pleasant and generous.

The last few sunny days of 2022 Harvest at Roccafiore were state of play.

Now that fermentation is over, the wines this vintage seem to have good freshness and fruitiness thanks to the vineyards northern exposure.

Roccafiore believes in the conviction that the goodness of the fruit can only derive from the harmony of the location. Year after year we are glad to see how they respond to the challenges of each vintage with vision, innovation and nerve.

2022 Sunrise harvest of Chardonnay at Brittan Vineyards

Today they harvested 4 acres total, seven clonal selections, all destined for our estate bottled chard.

The 7 clonal selections allow the terroir of the site to be the dominant influence in the wine rather than a single clone’s profile.

Plantings of mixed selections like this are core to Robert Brittan’s wine growing philosophy.

Great press for in !

The Cordilleran Sauvignon Blanc is a marriage of two vineyard sites in northern Washington, each bringing a different expression of the grape to the wine.

Open Gates Vineyard above the Wenatchee brings fruited tropical aromatics, and is balanced with acidity and minerality of Fruitland Valley Vineyard.

Refreshing and easy drinking, this wine is a great expression of place and is perfect for cooling off near the water.

We are excited to announce that Cru Selections is now representing Upside Down Wines!

Winemaker Seth Kitzke is of the belief that the more work is done in the vineyard, the less that will need to be done in the cellar. This means that sun and wind exposure, attention to mineral deposits at planting sites, native yeast fermentations, and practicing organic farming are the tools that are used to make terroir and varietally expressive wines.

Follow their account for regular updates on their winemaking process and more information!

Have you had our Fot-Li Reserve Vermut? Hailing from Reus (Catalonia), this baby contains 31 botanicals & is aged solera style for 40 years with intentional sun exposure to encourage oxidation. Unique, complex, surprising. A dream for mixologists, this is also prime sipping material.

Fot-Lo means ‘Go for it!’ & is a project from Toni Omedes Alegre, who’s family tradition of crafting fine wine & spirits goes back to 1910.

‘According to ancient writings, Vermouth was invented by Hippocrates, a famous physician of antiquity, born in 460 BC. He macerated flowers and leaves of wormwood dictamo in wine, obtaining what in the middle ages was called, “Hippocratic wine” or simply “herbal wine.” Reus area in Catalonia became a top-quality Vermouth producing area in Spain after 1892, exporting around the globe.’

Our friends at take stewardship seriously. Their newest efforts towards greater sustainability & reducing their carbon footprint include this rad CiCi carbon-capture system from 👆🏼

They’ll be capturing the CO2 that naturally occurs during fermentation & recycling it for use in some of their bubbly ciders rather than allowing it to release back into than the atmosphere as a greenhouse gas. How cool is that?!

Read more about this (and some of their other sustainability measures) here 👇🏼

About -

“Earthly Labs is a Public Benefit Corps based in Austin, Texas, that is committed to creating environmental solutions for carbon emissions. Earthly Labs CEO and Founder, Amy George, wanted to bring carbon-capture technology to a new sector - the world of fermentation. Early innovation ideas for the CiCi carbon-capture system were demonstrated through NASA as they worked to find ways to keep CO2 out of the International Space Station.”

Meet Brianne Day: terroir champion, grape whisperer, James Beard Awards 2020 Semi-Finalist, one of the few USA mentions in Isabelle Legeron’s most recent book, & newest addition to the Cru portfolio. We couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with her.

Since her first vintage in 2012, she’s expanded her production to include not only the classics we’ve come to expect from the Willamette Valley (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris) but grapes sourced from Southern Oregon’s Applegate Valley AVA such as Tannat, Pinot Meunier, Müeller-Thurgau, Cab Franc etc. From her classic single varietals to her wild field blends, all of her wines express a graceful, intuitive approach to winemaking. Already sporting well-deserved press & accolades, this one is certainly a rising star to watch.

Fruit is sourced from organic, biodynamic, &/or sustainably managed vineyards; several of which are difficult to obtain fruit allocations from.

Oregon Pinot Noir Producers; the leading names to know (link in bio)

‘Nicolas-Jay is the Oregon collaboration between Jean-Nicolas Méo of Vosne-Romanée and music industry executive Jay Boberg. With local Winemaker Tracy Kendall, they produce the single-vineyard, estate-grown Pinot Noir from their Bishop Creek Vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton AVA as well as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay blended from different sites in the Willamette Valley. Among their specialties is Own-Rooted, a blend of old-vine fruit from ungrafted vines in different sites. The elegance of Méo-Camuzet comes through clearly in Jean-Nicolas’ Oregon project.’

The air is crisp, menus are changing, perhaps what you’re drinking at home is changing. This 👆🏼 is one of our favorite transitional bottles.

- A ‘rebel’ bottling of 100% Cabernet Franc from Alaric, in the northernmost part of Corbières.

- Certified organic (certified biodynamic starting 2020!).

- A family estate spanning many generations, Christelle is the first woman winemaker in the family to take over the project.

“Intense and complex, mixing floral aromas and red berries with vanilla scents. The mouth, silky and soft in attack, is dominated by beautiful liveliness, and structured by tannins of great finesse. The finish, very long, offers aromas of mocha, caramel and liquorice.”

New AVA, new Rosé. Get it before it’s gone.

T H E W I N E

‘This is our debut rosé release for Garageland. The Garageland name is stolen from The Clash punk-rock song, and is an homage to all of the artisans - from musicians and painters, to brewers and food makers, who toil away behind non-descript roll-up garage doors. Ourselves included.’

‘Gemini Vineyards, in the newly minted Laurelwood AVA outside of Tualatin Oregon, is 16 acres under vine at 500ft on a slight north and northeast hill. It is farmed with care by the de Hayr family who also live on the land. We always partner with growers who farm with the least use of synthetic chemicals out of our concern for the workers in the fields and the consumers who will drink this wine.’

P A L A T E

‘This rosé has a medium body while staying graceful and light on its toes. The fruit component is slightly sweet and inviting, with just enough umami and earth to ground it. The finish is long and bright, begging for another sip. Like all of my wines, this bottling reflects a hands-off wine- making style, and draws focus to the vibrant delicacy, heady aromatics, and natural acidity that are the hallmarks of a well-balanced wine.’ - Matt Berson, Owner/Winemaker

Earl & Hilda Jones: scientists, dreamers, wine pioneers. With no experience making wine or growing vines, they sold their home in ‘94 & moved their family across the country to put vines down & build a winery on their freshly purchased estate in southern Umpqua Valley, OR. Their dream was to make exceptional domestic Tempranillo - something that was unheard of at the time. On one of his early visits to the unproductive, scrubby landscape, Earl’s dad proclaimed, “Son, you’ve lost your damn mind.”

“Albariño has been grown and produced as a barrel aged white wine in Galicia for centuries, but it was not until 1986/1987 when the wine was first fermented cold in stainless steel that its aromatics were liberated from the oak and the wine surged in popularity. Abacela planted its first Albariño in 2000 and produced cold, stainless steel fermented wine from this extremely vigorous varietal in 2001, becoming one of Americas first producers. From this you can see that Abacela has been making the modern Albariño wine style for more than half as long as the Galicians. Abacela is now thought to be America’s oldest continuous producer of Albariño.”

Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume: let’s talk about it.

T E R R O I R

Fourchaume 1er Cru vineyard: one of the most famous vineyards in Chablis, this place produces powerful, rich wines with great complexity. It lies just north of the Chablis village (and dangerously close to all the Grands Crus vineyards- sharing many of their characteristics) on the right bank of the Serein river with SW exposure promoting beautiful ripening.

Michele Laroche continues his family legacy with business savvy & intuitive skill in the vineyards & cellar. He is joined by his daughter Margaux. They grow sustainably, ferment with native yeast, & keep a light touch in the cellar. Their stunning examples of Chablisien terroir are unmarred by heavy filtration or fining. The Laroche family has owned vines in this area since 1695 & we are honored to bring their history & craft to the PNW.

“At Illahe, our goal is to make wine as naturally as possible from soil to bottle. We work by hand on small lots with age-old techniques and materials. Our focus is to grow and make quality Pinot Noir and white wines that express the vintage and their varietal characteristics. We don't use enzymes or additives. Some of our wines are made entirely by hand, with no electricity or modern mechanization. We use a gentle wooden basket press and age our Pinot Noir in French and Oregon oak.”

T H E V I N E Y A R D S

“Quality wine starts with quality fruit in the vineyard. Our 80-acre, south-facing vineyard lives in shallow clay soils. Like our friends in the Deep Roots Coalition, which is committed to dry agriculture and responsible water practices, we do not irrigate mature plants. As one of Oregon’s few horse-powered vineyards we utilize a team of Percheron draft horses to mow and deliver grapes to the winery at harvest.”

Their vineyards are LIVE Certified & Salmon Safe, and their winery is powered on solar.

This project is a winemaking journey set out to explore the varied soils found in Northern Washington State as compared to the traditional winegrowing regions of the Columbia Basin. Utilizing grape varieties and winemaking methods that can express and retain a wine's place of origin into the bottle. The Cashmere Valley, Lake Chelan, the proposed Rocky Reach AVA, the Okanogan Valley, and the Upper Columbia River are all places where the wines are sourced from.

D A N E I U S S I G - W I N E M A K E R

‘My great-grandfather came to the United States from Northern Italy in the early 1900's and like many others brought a skill for making wine. Upon my first glimpse as a teenager of the family's old winemaking press and equipment and listening to the stories of making wine from my father and grandfather I was soon hooked. In 2007, I jumped right in when the opportunities arose while in college to work at a custom crush wine facility and then a vineyard management company in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Completing the Enology and Viticulture program at Walla Walla Community College then going on to work harvests in Chile, the Barossa Valley and Margaret River in Australia, and numerous wineries and vineyards throughout Washington including Corliss, Cardaretta, Seven Hills, and Milbrandt has built a solid foundation for winemaking and grape growing. Currently, I am making wines the for Guardian Cellars and Newsprint Winery of Woodinville, Washington while also helping out with production on Orr Wines. Future projects include building an estate winery and vineyards on the family home in Northeastern Washington on Lake Roosevelt.’
