We get asked this a lot: “what happens to grapevines in extreme heat?” Well, they survive but go into what is known as “green dormancy “ where they essentially shut down. No growth, no berry development, nothing! Once cooler weather arrives, inevitably the crops automatically begin to ripen, thus shortening the complex interplay of compounds to create complexity in the finished product. Hopefully these temperatures in France don’t last too long to cause a Green Dormancy! (41C =105.8 °F 36C = 97F) 💫

From the Land of Wine (Enotria is the ancient name for Calabria, the arch of the boot of Italy) is found the delightful-to-say Gaglioppo grape, and this built- for-summer Rosé from ! A subtle nose of honeysuckle and raspberry-stained cucumber lures you onto a palate of crushed amaro cherry, honeydew, and fresh wild berries with a finish reminiscent of seaside oregano! We know what we’re having after mowing today!!
