We saw him and his dog Medusa, and invited them to stay at the inn until the storm clears! As we reflect on this year, we can’t help but smile with gratitude. We have met so many amazing cultivators, manufacturers, distributors, and fellow business owners who we now consider friends! We think back to the town vote, promising our fellow townspeople, the Deerfield Valley Community Partnership, and the Town of Wilmington that we will run our business with a high level of care and compliance, and we hope we’ve proven ourselves. Thank you for believing in us, allowing us this opportunity! We feel blessed to offer employment, paying solidly above the assumed livable wage. Our employees are such dedicated, respectable and knowledgeable people who represent not just Ratu’s, but the growth of legal c*nnabis in the beautiful state of Vermont. Thank you Adam, Aaron, Bry, Corey, Emily, Melody, Rode and Shelly for your dedication to Ratu’s, not just as employees but as part of the Ratu’s fam! 10 YEARS and oh what a journey!!!
As we sit and reflect this morning about our journey thus far, we are filled with gratitude from all of our employees, vendors, customers, friends, family, and this beautiful town of Wilmington, Vermont!
When we began, our son was only three and our daughter had just turned five years old! They spent long nights at the shop with us while we counted inventory, and we sacrificed a lot of family time as one of us was at the shop, while the other was off having fun with the kids!
Through the support of everyone, we kept our creativity flowing and took risks by expanding our wine section, increasing our craft beer, boosting our liquor offerings, and added taps to serve cold beer, kombucha and nitro coffee and soda for growlers!
We had so many people who saw our dedication and trusted us with loans to support our expansions!
We absolutely love the town of Wilmington! In 2018, when c- annabis was deemed legal, we took a big, yet calculated risk and bought the building next to our liquor store and connected them together, awaiting the dispensary. In the meantime, we filled it with clothing, shoes, accessories and started what we called, “The Vermont Domestic Market,” where we let local artisans sell their items for 100% profit :) It makes us so proud to give back to those also working hard on their side hustles!
Our decision to buy and completely retrofit the Horizon Inn got sprinkled into this journey and we can’t wait for that project to be finished! A restaurant and a small music venue are in the works!!!
When we had to get the support of the town before selling c- annabis, we were blown away by those who again believed in us and our visions. We are extremely dedicated to selling this product with the utmost level of compliance, while always listening to our townspeople and customers! We proudly employ almost 20 people within our businesses ❤️
So thank you all! Thank you so much for for supporting us throughout these ten years! Without your support, we wouldn’t be here, so cheers to the next years to come!!! Pop in and help us celebrate next Friday during the Wine & Soup Stroll!
