In November, 2003, we purchased Cafe le Grand - the corner coffee shop located at Grand Avenue and Thomas Street in the City of Wausau. Living on a diet of stress and espresso we forged ahead, developing a very small menu, deciding on coffee and suppliers, and getting introduced to the never end world of wine. Things powered along for many years - during which we developed friendships - with customers, vendors and the community. Feeling like we had more to give, in 2014 we purchased a property in the Village of Weston and opened our second location! Weston welcomed us and “the little red barn” became a home-away-from-home for many. In 2017 we relocated our Wausau location to the west side - purchasing another property and creating a welcoming space that was embraced.
Our mission has always been simple - provide great products, exceptional customer service, in comfortable surroundings, while supporting our community. Each day we hope to accomplish that mission. We offer fresh roasted, property prepared, exceptionally varied, coffee drinks. Our menu is a balance of healthy options - including wraps, grilled paninis, fresh salads, homemade soups, unique appetizers and artisan pizzas - AND amazing, made from scratch sweet treats! Our wine selection is purposefully curated, focusing on small producers, or small production from well known producers. We feature wines by the glass, by the bottle, have a Wine Club, teach wine classes and are always willing to seek out special wines for customers! In addition, we carry a generous handful of unique whiskies from around the world!
Lastly, we are truly part of the community. We live here, work here, engage in our daily lives, and support agencies, entities and organizations in many ways. We value the close knit nature of Central Wisconsin and love that we’ve been part of it for all these many years!
