We're celebrating Spring's arrival this week with this lovely Long Island white. Raphael's Sauvignon Blanc is cool fermented in stainless steel to retain fresh fruit flavors. Dry with balanced acidity, it exhibits a beautiful floral nose of citrus blossom with flavors of grapefruit, lime and minerals with a crisp, dry, acidic finish. This award-winning little gem comes from the most noble vines in Italy's Veneto region, made from predominantly Corvina grapes (same grapes that go into Amarone) but are dried for a shorter period, guaranteeing the superb quality of this wine. A fresh nose of blueberries, plums, cassis and violets give way to notes of sweet spices and chocolate due to slow maturation in oak barrels. It is full-bodied yet soft with velvety tannins and a juicy finish.
