The origins of Syrah are in the Rhône valley, it is the sixth most widely planted grape worldwide and in France third among the reds. In California tonnage has exploded from 586 in 1990 to 68,867 in 2023. Styles range from super powerful with dense fruit to the often jammy Australian Shiraz. This wine is a lighter and elegant expression. In 2012 the newest generation of three important Northern Rhône winemaking families partnered to create Maison & Domaines Les Alexandrins. The Maison portfolio is made from purchased fruit, the family network of contacts ensures high quality.
