#Repost courtesy @empirebrickofgin ・・・ Perfected Classics Part I - The Gimlet PERFECTED GIMLET -6cl / 2oz Gin -2cl / 2/3oz Rested Lime Juice -1,5cl / 1/2oz Agave Syrup Optional Twist: -1cl / 1/3oz Peppermint Liqueur Stir all ingredients on ice and strain into a Coupette or Nick&Nora. No garnish. The Gimlet is one of those Drinks Gin Fans looking beyond the G&T come in contact with first. But it totally twists all the oh so artisan and fresh ingredients stuff you learn by using ready Lime Juice Cordial - and nothing else 🤔 Many tried using Lime Juice and Simple Syrup instead, with mixed results. The juice felt off, the sugar too prominent. Now what do? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Agave Syrup instead of Simple already changes a lot with it's rounder, deeper sweetness. It also brings us closer to that signature cordial taste of the Gimlet. The trick is rested lime juice. Fresh, yet...not so fresh. Simply pressed and left in the fridge over night. No idea what's happening, but I guess it's oxidation. It takes out that 'zing' which is great in Cocktails like the Mai Tai, but quite off in the Gimlet. And probably the reason it's done with the Cordial stuff. For the Gin, I'm quite a Fan of a very classic, juniper forward London Dry profile. However, with the nowadays ranges, citrus twist ones and even herbal ones became interesting.
