Rezac Beats Hobby Stock Field At Wagner; Luke And Brown Also Winners
Wagner, South Dakota (August 17th, 2024)—Matt Rezac finally hit paydirt in the 2024 season as he bested the GoSunoco IMCA Hobby Stock competition at Wagner Speedway to become one of the newest winners among the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region. The Tabor traveler rose to the occasion on a restart around the halfway point and took off from the rest of the competition for the victory.

The main event started with Dellas Williams seizing control of first place with a move on the backstretch on the opening circuit. Williams would remain in the position before spinning in the first set of corners. Unfortunately, that brought out the first caution with two laps complete and gave the lead to Bain Kuhlman.

Kuhlman had a decent hot rod and started to separate from any potential challengers as the fight for second was a coin toss between Kaylb Brunssen and Taylor Brown. Brown held back Brunssen, but Rezac came into the fold.

The race took a dramatic turn with the final yellow flag flying when six laps were down. The restart presented a golden opportunity for Rezac, who made a daring move to overtake Brown and then Kuhlman on the back stretch, leading the seventh circuit and ultimately securing his victory.

Brown was second, followed by Bo Lundquist, in the Joel Magee-field entry, in third.

On tap, other Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly divisions were the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. Wyatt Luke continued his winning ways in the Stock Cars with Troy Brown visiting the winner's circle in the Sport Compacts.

Jared Jelsma blazed the trail early in the IMCA Stock Car finale. After a spirited battle with Kody Roth, Luke, who started third, captured second and then began to reel in Jelsma, but before a challenge could be mounted, a caution came out.

On the restart, Luke dispatched Jelsma and drove away from everyone else. The Springfield sensation went uncontested to score his eighth Wagner win of the season and in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region.

Phil McKee was second, while Jelsma ended the night third.

Troy Brown wasted no time getting the lead in the IMCA Sport Compact main event. Starting fourth he was able to get the lead in the first set of turns. Double-duty driver Taylor Brown was in hot pursuit for the entire race but could not put himself in a position to perform a pass.

The only thing to slow the party down was a lap six caution. Troy Brown, from Yankton, has amassed an impressive nine wins at Wagner this year.

Taylor Brown was a close runner-up, followed by Justyn Jaton.
