QuikTrip Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Chet Cadieux issued the following statement on the passing of co-founder Burt Holmes:

"In 1958, Burt came up with the CRAZY idea to open a convenience store. We are extremely fortunate that he did because it created opportunities for so many people who make our company what it is today. On behalf of our 31,000 employees, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude. We will miss you, Burt, but we will never forget you.”

Did you know that QuikTrip was the first convenience store to introduce self-serve beverages?

Before 1977, QT employees manually filled every fountain soda behind the check stand counter. Customers would wait in line, watching employees carefully pour their drinks. Then QT changed EVERYTHING by introducing self-serve drink stations, which gave customers the freedom to grab their own cups and fill it up.

The self-serve concept was an instant hit and is now copied in every gas station and convenience store in the US.
