Our Story
GoBears is a family owned convenience store chain based in Thibodaux, Louisiana. For more than 90 years, our mission at GoBears has been to meet the needs of customers on the go. Of course, lots of things have changed over those 90+ years. Life is faster and busier, and customers expect us to be there when they need us most. One thing that hasn't changed is our commitment to our customers, our employees and the communities in which we operate.
Nolan Gaubert founded Gaubert Oil Company, Inc. in 1926. Over the next several years, Nolan purchased a few full-service gas stations. Nolan’s son, Kevin Gaubert, took over in the early 1950s. During the 80s there was a major shift in the petroleum industry. Up until the 80s, gas stations were full-service (gas stations workers filled up your car for you - yep! that actually existed!), but were evolving into a self-serve model. This evolution also produced a new concept of the “convenience store” which added food and beverages to the mix.
In 1994, Kevin created a separate corporation from Gaubert Oil Company - Gaubert Food Marts, Inc. This company started with 5 self-service gas stations located in Lockport, Chackbay, Schriever and Thibodaux. In 2003, we opened the Huddle House and Lucky Star Casino in Thibodaux, LA. In 2005, Grady Gaubert, Kevin’s son, became the president and CEO of both companies.
We now have over 15 locations throughout Louisiana. We are proud to service Galliano, Larose, Lockport, Thibodaux, Schriever, Houma, Chackbay and our newest location in Grand Coteau. And even better things are still to come!
