This K**b Creek event was off the charts. Kaeli Bullock killed with her presentation and the icing on the cake was all the swag bags for everyone, the raffle bottles, barrel heads and barrel we raffled off.

Another event that we brought to our fans with rare K**b Creek bottles that you may not ever have another chance at buying them or drinking them. Truly a special night!

Our 4th bottle that we will be drinking this upcoming event is the K**b Creek Cask Strength Rye Whiskey.

K**b Creek Cask Strength Rye 2018 Limited Edition was named “Best Rye Whiskey” at the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and has been met with mostly glowing reviews. This release comes alongside a new ongoing K**b Creek Single Barrel Select program, thus representing a fairly robust expansion of the K**b Creek Rye portfolio in 2018.

*This is the first Limited Edition Rye released under the K**b Creek brand. While the label does not say “straight,” Beam Suntory has confirmed with us that it is.

Our third K**b Creek bottle we will be drinking at our upcoming event is the K**b Creek Twice Barreled Rye Whiskey.

Fred Noe knew exactly what he was doing when using a heavier level 4 char for the second barrel. This sweetness adds a nice contrasting play with the rye grain, and delivers an end result that is certainly interesting. It’s not the most unique tasting rye I’ve ever tasted, however it does bring a certain newness to the rye category from those extra sugary flavors delivered by the double barrel process.

Nose - Oak, rye grain, and baked oats are at the forefront. Lingering behind are hay, muted vanilla, and sweet sugar scents.

Palate - Rye spice, vanilla, and smoky oak quickly appear with white pepper and light anise hiding in the background. The double barrel effect is in full play in the palate as a noticeable underlying level of sweetness is present.

Finish - The sweet sugars carry through to the finish and combine with a low simmering heat that is present throughout. Sweet vanilla and oak kick things off and quickly fade to a drier leathery oak combo that lingers for a while.

This is the second bottle we will be tasting at our upcoming K**b Creek event.

In 2001, following years of tough love and training, Booker Noe passed the torch of K**b Creek to his son Fred who has carried on the tradition ever since. The 2001 Limited Edition K**b Creek series is a tribute to that transition and the relationship between the father and son distillers.

Nose- Big, sweet oak, of course. Blackberries, vanilla beans and roasted nuts. Herbal tannins. A clovey spice feel from the 9 year old version.

Taste- Thick oak with a touch of molasses sweet. Largely a repeat of the nose.

Finish- Long. Barrel char. Cinnamon sweet. Brown sugar but make no mistake, the dry outpaces the sweet.
