On January 21, 2025, arrested Maurice Skinner, 22, for an inappropriate and sexual relationship with a 15-year-old victim.
Through investigative efforts, detectives learned that on January 13, 2025, Skinner and the victim met at the victim's house and engaged in sexual acts.
"Preying upon an innocent juvenile has no place in our community. This individual's actions are horrifying," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our detectives are fully committed to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community, and rest assured, if you harm our children, you will face the full consequences of your actions."

has made an arrest in the death investigation following a fatal shooting on January 15, 2025, at Circle K in Thonotosassa.
Through investigative means, detectives identified Dean Henderson, 38, a two-time convicted felon, as the shooter.

has arrested Tia Heyward, 23, in connection to the December 27, 2024, shooting of an off-duty ATF agent.

The incident occurred at 11:07 p.m. at The Alley at Southshore in Riverview. Following a thorough investigation, detectives identified Heyward as a suspect and obtained a warrant for her arrest on January 14, 2025.

"Our detectives have worked tirelessly to ensure that all those responsible for this senseless act of violence are held accountable and face the consequences of their actions," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our prayers remain with the ATF agent as he courageously embarks on his road to recovery. His bravery and selflessness exemplify his dedication to protecting our community."
