This storied bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout was named for a festival-goer’s mishap: In need of a display bottle of stout while pouring at a beer festival, Lauren Grimm filled a bottle with diluted sumi ink and water, put a cap and label on it, and set it on the Grimm festival table. After the event was over, she turned her back for a second and the facsimile disappeared! Whomever took the bottle was, sadly, in for a disappointment.
Sumi Ink 2023 is a blend of well-selected bourbon barrels from (aged 2 years), Heaven Hill (aged 1.5 years), Wild Turkey (aged 1 year), Woodford Reserve (aged 6 months), conditioned on Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans. This is an elegant, balanced barrel-aged imperial stout with notes of toasted oak, fruity chocolate, dried cherry, and vanilla. 13.5% ABV 🍫🍦🥃🌾

Crisp Air, our new Crispy IPA (aka India Pils) is here! This time we’ve bumped the strength up to a relatively hefty 5.2% as we gradually hone in on exactly what this style of beer wants to be. Impressively clear with the palest hue of straw, we get blooming pure hop aromas of Nelson, Citra, and Cashmere: citrus, gooseberry, and guava. There are no yeast esters here whatsoever and a malt character of near zero – this is the most direct experience of these hops we can deliver. On the palate it manages to be crisp, dry, and tropical all at once. Snappy, fresh, and delicious. We are pumped about this new direction in Grimm hops – you MUST try!
