Thanks everyone for the memories!!! My last day and night in barber shop, and the huge group last night in cigar lounge really meant more than I expected.

Bob Seger - Turn The Page (1973 Radio Version)

Well... I want to announce that effective January 1st I will be retiring from my shops, Old Stogies Ci**rs & Barber Shop.
First and foremost --- I AM NOT SICK OR ILL, and this is a planned retirement, and not due to recent preventative medical tests I've been getting. I'm an old (fat) stogie and felt at 66 years old I wanted to get those "man type" tests done.

When Suzanne and I went to Arkansas in September we went specifically to look at buying some property for a planned 4 year retirement. We found a really nice little house on some acreage on the edge of Lee's Mountain, and made the purchase with plans to move there within 4 years. We've since then decided that we'd like to move there a bit sooner than our original 4 year plan.

I have under contract the little "flip house" I bought earlier this year. Also we have accepted and taken an offer to sell our commercial building downtown to our attorney to get documents ready. That is why my last day in shops is New Years 2019. I am not at liberty to discuss the new buyers or their intentions, but we feel it will be great for what they do as a business. When they are ready I will share that.

After the I close I will be renting my shop for 1 month to clear everything out. We will have a huge indoor sale of almost everything in shop..antiques, vintage items, barber poles, cigar shop items --- basically, everything must go.

This will be very bittersweet for me as I have been truly blessed with outstanding customers who've been with me from my first days in Ottawa to the present. Sadly I will also remember the great amount of my customers/friends whom have passed on.

So as they say, it's time to "turn the page" and begin a new exciting chapter in our lives. I'll let Bob Seger sing this post out....

Horrible news to the premium cigar world... a crappy business, and one I hope all my friends and customers boycott their products.

Altria, the biggest cigarette company in America, has asked the FDA not to spare handmade ci**rs from regulation.

This is my friend Bob on Father's Day on his deck on Table Rock, Branson Missouri.
Suzanne and I got to meet Bob, and his wonderful wife Jan while we were on vacation in Branson a couple of years ago.
Bob is a retired firefighter, and Jan and Bob owned a great cigar shop there called, "Bob's Cigar Box". They've since then retired to enjoy their families and each other.
I love that he's wearing my shop tshirt whilst enjoying a cigar. Cheers Bob! !
