This is an introduction to Amber Wines...also called Orange Wines, Skin Contact Wines, and Maceration wines. The tradition comes from the country of Georgia who has been making these wines for 8,000 years - the oldest form of winemaking. Orange/Amber wines are white wines with skin contact - where the grapes macerate with the juice and eventually wine for extended time periods. The prolonged contact with the skins puts tannins and other phenols into the wines – like with a red wine – which helps protect the wine from oxidation - this allows for less usage of added sulfites. These are bold white wines structured like reds with tannins –totally unique. We will be tasting wines from around the globe, like Georgia, the cradle of wines, to Uruguay, Greece etc. And the key is, these wines shine when paired with food. 4 wines paired with food. Earth Day is around the corner on April 22nd - we decided to celebrate with this orange wine tasting - wines that are true to the Earth. Tickets are $80 and there is limited space.
Buy a ticket using the link button just below or on the Facebook event page - or give us a call or stop by the shop. We would love to see you all there!
