It’s 🍷Wine Wednesday! ⏰ Today we feature —two Sauvignon Blancs and a Pinot Noir! When we got wind that our friends, Nathan Taylor and J Tyler Whitmer (over at ) here in Springfield had family in the wine biz, we wanted to know more.

2023 Front of House Sauvignon Blanc ($19.99/$17.98) captures the essence of Marlborough in a Goldilocks kind of way. Many New Zealand SBs have become either watered down and lifeless on the one hand or an exercise in extremes on the other. But this gem is brimming with personally that pleases nearly all palates.

Its companion, 2023 Dawn Chorus Sauvignon Blanc ($19.99/$17.99) represents the same quality but from Hawke’s Bay on the north island. Here the more temperate climate bulks up the wine a little. Not exactly tropical, but more exotic for sure.

Lastly there’s the classy 2022 Front of House Pinot Noir ($24.99/22.98) from Wairarapa. (I know, we can’t pronounce it either, but it’s just below Hawke’s Bay.) The Pinot has the concentration and frame of a comparable Burgundy but with the polish you’d expect from the world’s leader in winemaking technology. Think black cherry and pomegranate with a whiff of cocoa.

Available only at the Brown Derby, these have arrived just in time for holiday entertaining and gift-giving. Perfect for mix/match case purchases!

Brown Derby is excited to host Laurie McKnight Erhard for rare tasting event showcasing some of the finest ice wines in the world, this Friday!

Allowing the grapes to freeze on the vine free of botrytis results in one of the cleanest, most concentrated alcohol-tinged nectars imaginable! We’ll have a chance to taste through the various offerings from Inniskillin, Canada’s first estate winery, but also, the popular Vidal Reserve from Jackson Triggs.

Our🍷 Wine Wednesday ⏰ feature this week is 2023 Famille Gueguen Chablis AOC!

Not only is Chablis the darling of the somm community, but it has finally caught on amongst everyday folks who love food-friendly Chardonnay. A string of big vintages has produced even entry-level wines that are ripe enough you can drink them without craving a splash of crème de cassis!

It shimmers in the glass and bursts with fresh, yellow apple, white peach and chalky minerality. It’s delicious all by itself but really shines with dishes like chicken fricassee, fresh oysters or braised vegetables. Usually, you need to pony up to premier cru tier to get this quality!

This week’s 🍷Wine Wednesday ⏰ is a 2016 Chateau Carignan Prima Cadillac Bordeaux.

It’s actually a rather sizable wine—100% Merlot. Lots of opulent dark fruit, warm spice from the oak, and the texture is awfully suave thanks to a few years on the cork. It’s 8 years old after all. For all you chef types, this is one to haul out when the chilly air gets you thinking of beef wellington or expresso rubbed fillets. For everyone else, it’s equally fantastic with these savory Prairie pot pies from the Derby’s grab and go case! Beef and mushroom anyone???
