It’s actually a rather sizable wine—100% Merlot. Lots of opulent dark fruit, warm spice from the oak, and the texture is awfully suave thanks to a few years on the cork. It’s 8 years old after all. For all you chef types, this is one to haul out when the chilly air gets you thinking of beef wellington or expresso rubbed fillets. Join us for the Brown Derby Barrel Fest as we kick off a month-long fundraiser supporting the Springfield Police Officers Association (SPOA).

Throughout November, for every Brown Derby Barrel pick sold, $5 will be donated to SPOA, helping to provide vital financial aid and mental health services for officers and their families.

The festivities on November 1st and 2nd will feature an Empty Barrel Sale, with 50% of proceeds going to the SPOA. Plus, guests can enjoy tastings of barrel-aged beer, wine, and whiskey, with the opportunity to sample exclusive Brown Derby Barrel picks.

🍷 Our Wine Wednesday ⏰ feature is one Sauvignon Blanc that has it all!

“Goldilocks” Sauvignon Blanc is hard to find. Many are too grassy, too acidic, too grapefruity, or (for the great ones) too expensive! But this new arrival from Steve Millet is just right! It has the depth and volume that Sauvignon Blancs from the Loire often lack. The exotic fruit profile balances out the citrus. And it finishes crisp enough to summon another sip.

In the wine geek world, Menetou-Salon is considered the up and comer giving Sancerre a run for its (more and more) money. It’s located just up the road and offers reliably excellent quality at nearly half the price. Steve Millet’s bottling is no exception. On the palate, it shows some yellow apple, pear and melon making it the perfect white for autumn. This is our only tranche for the year. So grab a bottle to broaden your horizons. Then grab some more and enjoy the view!

Domaine Fourrier is a 4th generation grower just outside Auxerre in the Yonne department of Burgundy. This delicious Pinot is a gift that warm vintages give to cooler sites. Just the right balance of fruit, spice and earth gives Fourrey Bourgogne Rouge the weight and depth that usually turn up only in village level wines from lesser vintages. So we went deep on this little gem. You can stock up for holiday entertaining, . . . but don’t be surprised if you’ve drunk it all by Thanksgiving!
