First started in the USA in 2009, Hugel Day is celebrated by wine merchants, consumers and restauranteurs, putting a spotlight on the great wines of Alsace made by the Hugel family. At the heart of Riquewihr since 1639, the 13th generation of Famille Hugel continue to represent the Alsacian identity with wines of the purest expression of Alsace Terroir using sustainable & organic farming methods and Hugel wines are sold ALL OVER THE WORLD 🍃🍇💛

We will taste Hugel’s famous Gentil white, a blend of all the local grapes of Alsace and the perfect ‘everyday’ dry French white; followed by Hugel’s Classic Pinot Gris which is super fresh and zippy packed with underlying apricot and yellow peach fruit flavors. And as a real treat, we will taste Hugel’s 2019 Classic Gewürztraminer from a cool and long growing season which gave this unique dry wine superb finesse and unequalled intensity. • WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I’m a bonafide Jersey Boy. Born & raised in East Brunswick, graduated from Rutgers and now I live Manasaquan

• WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT WORKING WITH WINE?
I’m someone who greatly values when people are dedicated to their craft. Learning about the arduous work and unique challenges vintners face when farming grapes and making wine, has earned a lot of respect from me for what winds up in a bottle of wine

• WHAT WINE OR WINES ARE YOU CURRENTLY CRUSHING ON?
In whites, I love the Chablis from Chartron & Trebuchet. People are still surprised when I tell them it’s Chardonnay because it’s so clean, mouthwatering and crispy. For reds, I enjoy Rhônes a lot, in particular a Gigondas from the Lançon family at Domaine de La Solitude. Rich in taste yet clean, it’s also organic, a real plus for my taste and the planet

• WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE HOBBIES?
Writing. Reading. Watching great movies as well as good TV. My best friend and I actually have a podcast named ‘Take Us to the Pilot’ that we started in 2023 in which we choose TV shows to dissect and review from the very first pilot. We turn our listeners onto some old shows that they never, and in some cases, that even we never, watched at the time, but are truly top quality television. The one that stands out the most is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was shocked at how good that show is, vampires and all

Mrs. Zuehlke, a famed cheese lover, is behind the creation of the Red Witch. In February, when people in Switzerland celebrate the carnival prior to Lent, they dress up (like we do on Halloween). She thought that a cheese that goes well with wine or beer or spirits would be nice for the long evenings, so she contacted acclaimed cheese maker Christian Oberli in Northeastern Switzerland. They met in the restaurant of the main train station of the capital Berne to discuss proceedings.
He created the recipe for Rote Hexe (“Red Witch”), and with the paprika-rubbed peppery red rind, as well as the “scary” label with the witch on her broom - a visually attractive cheese was born.

Made from raw unpasteurized whole cow’s milk, the paste is creamy, easy melting, mild yet flavorful. He has increased the aging in his cellars from the original 5 up to 8 months when the Red Witch gets aromatic and nutty. Think of it as an artisanal Gruyére-type cheese with added flavors that is frighteningly delicious!!!

When creating a cheese plate we highly recommend serving ‘a Sheep, a Cow and a Goat’ 🐑🐄🐐

This article highlights D’Affinois Brebicet; Comté Gruyére and Balarina Aged Gouda with François Baur Dry Riesling; Roulerie Anjou Chenin; and Bastide Dominique Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc - YES they also make whites in Châteauneuf!!! 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷

Also if you just want to enjoy a nice cheese one evening, we suggest serving yourself ONE lovely fromage, whether it be soft or hard, with a little dollup of jam or honey after dinner - we love making CHEESE our dessert at home 🏡🏡🏡

If there is one food that screams summer fun, it’s got to be BURGERS! We teamed up with local chef Kristen Blendinger, from Ray’s Cafe Catering. She created three ‘foodie-style’ burgers : the Bang Bang Shrimp with sweet chili aioli and Asian slaw; the Chimichurri Chicken with
6-month Manchego and grilled pineapple; and the French Onion Burger made from Dutch Hill Farm’s brisket, short rib and chuck O.G. blend topped with Comté Gruyère and caramelized onions. Each of these burgers is insanely flavorful with epicurean ingredients to elevate your next grilling session. Pair them with the wines we curated for each, and you will create some unforgettable summer memories in 2024!

The wines, cheeses and cornichons are available ; pick up fresh shrimp ; go to for prime meats ; and have brekkie all summer long, and if you are looking for a caterer, ask for Kristen in Ray’s catering.

Meet 9th Generation vigneron Virginie Baur-Sellar from Domaine François Baur in Alsace. This organic/biodynamic estate is one of our all-time favorite wineries. Virginie’s family produces delicious, terroir-driven sparkling, white and red wines. We will taste Crémant d’Alsace, Dry Riesling and two great Pinot Noirs ~~~ all are perfect for Summer 🔆

One of the Pinots is called SANG DU DRAGON, and not only is 2024 the Year of the Dragon, Virginie was also born in a Dragon year!!! So lots to celebrate at this special VIP event! 🐉

We want to highlight two exceptional examples of naturally-made, authentic Italian Prosecco curated by the Murray family!

The first is BRANCHER from the hills of Veneto, specifically the DOCG of Valdobbiadene, the most exclusive sub-zone for Prosecco. Made from very old vines with 50 years of age, Brancher Extra Dry is fine & fruity in a natural way with wonderful complexity and a cashmere texture. 100% Glera, ripe pear, white flowers, citrus and melon abound. They also use very low sulfites and organic methods in the vineyards. All of the photos in this post are from their healthy lands full of thriving biodiversity 🍃🌻🌳🐞

Our second feature, REZZADORE, is the most mouthwatering, tangy, fresh minerally PINK Prosecco from Giuseppe Rezzadore , the sixth generation of his family to farm these lands in Veneto on an ancient seabed of compacted fossils, shells, sand and mud. Birds like the hoopoe and pheasant live on the property and are featured on his labels. Giuseppe is also fully organic and his pink Prosecco is made of 90% Glera and 10% Pinot Noir 🌸💕🦪🍓

We made a pilgrimage down to Barnegat to visit and enjoy ultra fresh oysters, scallop ceviche, and seaweed & octopus salads with an oyster-loving squad in this new laid-back oyster & beer garden on the bay. These guys take you on a gastronomic tour of our local New Jersey oyster growing regions, ranging from northern Barnegat Bay down to Great Bay. Supplying all of our best local restaurants, the BOC is made up of independent oyster farms in Mantoloking, Little Egg Harbor, Northern and Southern Barnegat Bay, and now they have this cool spot to hang out at on the weekends! .0

We ♥️ Burgundy!!! 🇫🇷 Yesterday we attended Frederick Wildman’s Annual Burgundy Barrel Tasting in NYC and tasted the new, exciting 2022 vintage. A very good quality vintage for both reds & whites, we loved the purity of fruit, floral perfumes and balance of these wines.

Tomorrow Friday May 3 we are hosting a Burgundy tasting at the Bottle Shop with winemaker Antoine Vincent from Château Fuissé where we will taste his 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé plus wines from 2021, 2020 and 2019.
