🌟 Meet Sadie, our beloved baker at the Southport General Store! 🌟

Breads are her passion, and she loves the challenge they bring. Recently, Sadie took on the cranberry cinnamon pecan bread, a dense recipe that required extra rise time. After many tries, she perfected it, and the results are nothing short of amazing!

Sadie moved to Southport six years ago and quickly made it her home. She loves the people and the sense of community, and we love her just as much! When she’s not in the bake shop, Sadie enjoys being outside, reading, and doing crafts. Sadie’s hardworking and positive attitude make her an absolute joy to be around. We are so lucky to have her on our team!

She’s excited to dive into the world of pastries and pastry dough, which would open up new possibilities for her work. She’s even considering learning candy making! Stay tuned for more delicious creations from Sadie! 🍞❤️✨

Our freezer is fully stocked with so many yummy chef prepared take & bake dinners! We have lobster mac & cheese, creamy chicken orzo bake with spinach & tomato, Tuscan pesto pasta, steak & cheese burritos, haddock chowder, New England clam chowder, chicken orzo soup, lasagna, and turkey pot pies!!!

CHRISTMAS IN JULY! Join us on Sunday July 7th from 4-6pm for a fused glass ornament workshop with Kathy Faass! ** SOLD OUT **

Dive into some festive fun under the sun and jump into the holiday spirit by making your own glass ornaments! Unleash your inner elf as you create holiday magic in the middle of the summer. Add some sparkle to your tree or sunny window! We had a BLAST at our first ornament workshop and we don’t want to wait until December to do it again. Each student will choose and assemble 4 glass ornaments that artist & instructor Kathy Faass will take back to her kiln to fire for us after class. Pieces made in class will be ready to pick up the following week. (We can ship them to you if need be for $8 per student.)

Our last class was sold out with a waiting list, so don’t miss out on this holly jolly fusion of holiday spirit and summertime silliness.

Children accompanied by an adult are welcome! This is a beginner friendly class, no experience necessary!

Join us on June 20th from 4-6pm for needle felting seascapes with Isabel Stearns! Only 5 spaces are left!!

At this workshop you’ll be introduced to the basic techniques involved in needle felting. Together we will create the seascape of your dreams by “painting” with wool. Your piece will be finished in a 5” wooden hoop frame. This is a fun class for all levels and makes a wonderful home decoration or unique gift. All materials are included.

Isabel was introduced to felting as a child attending a Waldorf School of Cape Cod and later rediscovered felting as a therapeutic art form. Today inspired by the coast of Maine and Massachusetts Isabel crafts for the love of it! You can visit her website here and her instagram here to view some work examples.

ON THE MENU THIS WEEK: chef prepared grilled steak with fresh chimichurri, farro salad with grilled zucchini, scallion, parsley, tomatoes & goat cheese, and zesty sweet potato steak fries!!

What is chimichurri you ask? It’s a fresh Argentinian sauce made with with cilantro, parsley and scallion, blended with olive oil, lime, Maine sea salt and fresh cracked pepper.

You can buy each dish separately or grab one of each to make a perfect dinner for two!

Join us this Thursday for Burger Day, in honor of Michael Beane. He was a beloved member of our community, known for his love of pulling pranks and his dedication to cooking your burgers every week for 18 years. We miss him dearly, and this Thursday, we celebrate his memory with the food and community he cherished so much. We will all be wearing our tie-dye shirts, his signature look!

Additionally, a celebration of life will be held in his honor this Saturday, May 11th from 1-4pm, with a time for sharing starting at 2pm, at the Opera House in Boothbay Harbor.
