They brought back the afternoon train trip to Durango and a shuttle service back up to Silverton in the evening! So if you’re staying in Silverton and want to ride it but don’t want to drive very early down the mountain. 😃

Full service to Silverton resumes tomorrow, Friday, June 28, following last week’s rockslide at milepost 485.9, just north of Needleton. Kudos to our awesome maintenance of way, operations and reservations staff who worked diligently to expedite this return to service! And thanks to our wonderful guests for their patience and understanding!

We’ll still be open 😃

Updated June 23, 2024:
Due to significant weather events over the last 48 hours, we had a slide at milepost 485.9 just north of Needleton which resulted in the tracks being covered with a large amount of rock and debris, making train passage to Silverton impossible. Due to this, we have had an interruption of service to Silverton and both Silverton trains have been rerouted to Cascade Canyon for today and Monday. Our maintenance of way crews are actively working to clear the slide and to restore the tracks.

We look forward to restoring full Silverton service as soon as possible.

First day of train! We are now open seven days a week for the tourist season. We made some fun fudge flavors too 😃
Initial hours around 10am-ish to 4 or 5pm depending on the day’s traffic and we’ll have longer hours when season picks up.
