Shakopee wine cellars is officially under new . The Duerr family is starting 2017 off with a bang! We have decided to make a career change that will allow us to spend more time together as a family. Our liquor store was a success, not only financially, but even more importantly because of the wonderful friends that we have made through the store over the past 8 1/2 yrs. Sadie and I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our terrific customers who helped make our store a success! THANK YOU to all of our distributors that taught us so much about the business over the years. A special shout out to the entire team at College City Beverage who went above and beyond to support us over the years.And THANK YOU to our awesome staff both past and present: Adam Schmitz, Mike Zager, Joe Young, Phil LaFontaine, Rae Moulton and Cory Nelson! You all became not just employees, but Dear Friends to our family! We are rooted deeply here in Shakopee and we are not going anywhere - hope to see you all around.

Wine on the Water 5 is just a week away. Tickets are still available!
-Bus leaves Shakopee Wine Cellars at 5:45pm SHARP - next Tuesday night, August 8th. You can bring alcohol on the bus, so get here early and pick some up, before you load up on the bus.
-As you get onto the boat, we will hand you a glass, a pen, and a book which tells you a little about the wines/beers that are available for sampling.
-Boat Cruise goes from 6:30-8:30pm - During that time you can sample, have some appetizers & enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Minnetonka!
-Bus returns to Shakopee Wine Cellars at approx. 9:15pm. Please make sure to fill out your order form and turn it in before you get off the bus, in order to get your discount. 20% off of 12btls or more.

Why companies fail? - They think that they are smarter than their customer.
Example - Shakers Vodka. Shakers has two vodkas - their original (wheat) vodka, and a rye vodka. I dont know the percentages, but the wheat far out sells the rye. We carry the wheat, but not the rye; which is not uncommon for smaller liquor stores. Shakers in their infinite wisdom decided that they do not want to make both the wheat and rye anymore, so one would assume that they would continue with the best seller (wheat) correct?
No - Shakers believes that their rye is a better product (despite what sales say), so they discontinued the wheat and changed the label on the rye from red to blue, so it looks like the label from the wheat (which was blue). One can only assume their game plan is to trick the customer into trying the wheat and hope that they come to Shakers realization of the rye being better.
I just dont understand, but I guess we shall see.
