Sláinte! Happy St. Patrick's Day! While pints of Guinness may still dominate the pub scene, a nice glass of wine is never too far behind in Ireland! 🍷🍀

In the 17th and 18th centuries, many Irish families, particularly from the nobility, fled Ireland due to political and economic upheaval, including conflicts like the Williamite War. Many of these exiled Irish—known as the "Wine Geese"—settled in France, Spain, and Portugal, where they became influential in the wine industry. Bordeaux, one of the world’s most famous wine regions, became a key destination for Irish emigrants. Many Irish families established vineyards and wine businesses that remain prominent today.

🇺🇸Looking for a great pairing to celebrate Presidents’ Day? 🇺🇸Madeira was the wine of choice for the Founding Fathers and was the celebratory drink at the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Some say the best way to judge a Tequila distillery is to taste its Blanco. Fortaleza makes 2. Their ordinary Blanco, which is far from ordinary, and their Still Proof clocking in at 46% abv.

Fortaleza definitely passes the Blanco test!

First, and like all other high-quality Tequilas, there is great purity here, but that really just puts a Tequila out of the league of the mass produced mediocre, chemically enhanced Tequilas.

Taking it the next level up Fortaleza’s Blanco has such richness, with a deep concentration of agave flavors that is hard to match.

To bring it to the very top; this Blanco has remarkable persistence! The finish lingers and lingers, on and on, offering minutes of enjoyment after sipping. Wow, I love this Tequila!

Lastly, if that wasn’t enough, there is complexity! Olives, and black pepper, anise and lime, cooked agave, some vanilla and light saltiness. This is easily my favorite Blanco, besides of course Fortaleza’s Still Proof, which just turns everything up another notch. Hard to imagine when you consider the intensity of this Tequila to begin with!

These are of course limited, and I would greatly prefer these to go to our regular customers who have been supporting our store, so let us know if you are interested!
