Our featured wine this weekend is I Pentri, “Flora” Falanghina $38.99 with a 15% discount through Sunday!

The vibrancy and complexity of I Pentri’s Falanghina can make you rethink southern Italian whites. Aromas of yellow stone fruits, melon, and mint leap out of the glass.
The palate shows apricot, melon, and melon rind. There’s a wonderful tension between brightness and richness with a finish that’s savory, dry, and smoky.

Easy to make, and for vegan friendly just leave out the Parmigiano-Reggiano.

Our featured wine this weekend is La Rioja Alta, Viña Alberdi Reserva at $28.99.
La Rioja Alta is one of the classic “old-school” producers in Rioja. Viña Alberdi is a selection of Tempranillo from selected vineyards that are over 40 years old. The wine production is traditional. Grapes are hand harvested, fermentations are natural. The wine is aged 2 years in a combination of French and American oak barrels. The wine gives red fruits, strawberry, and rasperry in a medium frame with sweet spices and soft, supple tannins in the finish.

This week’s featured wine is a perennial favorite in the shop, Domaine De La Bastide, Côtes-Du-Rhône “Figues” 2023, $16.99. Affectionately known as “Fig Rouge” this medium bodied red is a blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan and certified Organic. The palate is medium-full with blue fruits and earth and a balanced, smooth finish. To beat the heat, we’re featuring Chateau Gassier “Espirit Gassier” Rosé, Cotes De Provence, $24.99.

We paired this with a Greek Salad (kitchn.com- see recipe link in comments below) loaded with contrasting flavors and textures of feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and briny olives all working together. It was a home run with the Espirit Gassier Rosé, this year’s “Rosé of the Summer’! The wine shows citrus and crisp berry fruit on the palate with a slightly rich mouthfeel. Notes of white flowers and herbs come in on the finish. It matches the salad perfectly - seamless and refreshing.

Featured Wine: Thomas Labille Petit Chablis 2022, $26.99

Chablis is a great choice in the summer. This wine is crisp and dry with lemony citrus upfront, followed by mineral and seashell notes in the finish. A classic style and a great alternative to more expensive Chablis. We love it with linguine and clams.
